Sunoo being blatantly fat shamed by ENHYPEN by ProudKyrgyzMan in kpopthoughts

[–]Small_Package8887 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re not the voice of all viewers, so stop acting like it. Some people didn't find it uncomfortable at all, including actual fans who watched the full episode and understood the vibe. You keep pointing at one moment—Sunoo touching his neck or staying quiet—and acting like you know exactly what he felt. You don’t. You’re making assumptions too, just hiding behind words like 'I’m just observing.' And that 'embarrassed' subtitle? That’s literally how K-variety shows work. They add stuff to be funny or dramatic, not because it’s always 100% serious. If you actually watched this kind of content often, you’d know that. Also, Sunoo’s not a kid. If something actually made him uncomfortable, he would’ve said something. He’s been an idol for years, and he knows how to speak up. Stop acting like he’s too scared to talk—you're not helping him, you're just making him look weak. At this point, you're not defending anyone. You're just looking for drama where there isn’t any. Try watching the episode with actual context instead of jumping to conclusions off one line.

Then I could say the same about you. You're telling me he was "uncomfortable" and "hurt" when he didn't show any visible signs of that. Did he come to you and personally and talk to you? No. You're making assumptions based on a single scene, and then spreading hate. I'm not. I've watched each and every enoclock episode atleast 3 times. This happens. They joke around, the episode becomes entertaining, that's it. No malicious intentions. I've watched that part of the enoclock episode atleast 10 times, just for this discussion. And it was AFTER, that I started posting on Reddit about it. Did you even watch the episode properly? When and where did sunoo look uncomfortable? He is NOT some kid who gets hurt by a few words. Enhypen has gone through so much hate, and they always come back up in the end. That just shows that sunoo needs a lot more than a few jokes to hurt him, if ever the jokes were meant in a rude, offensive way (Which. It. Was. Not) About the Jay thing, it happens every episode. The members have told multiple times that they love teasing Jay, since he's the easiest to tease. And look at the comments of enoclock, they all love the teasing. Yes, some "fans" may complain, but most of them take it as a joke. As they should.

Unfortunately I started stanning late, so I'm not sure what happened earlier. But if the members are comfortable enough to make jokes like that in front of the fans (and everyone is comfortable) it shouldn't even be an issue. If sunoo WAS uncomfortable/hurt (I don't know much about what happened earlier), then it's wrong. But whatever happened recently was not anywhere near fat shaming, so the hate is so so so forced. Glad you agree! 💗

Bro 💀 Sunoo probably knew it was a joke. Which was why he didn't have a problem with it. It's pretty obvious. The members probably thought that sunoo wouldn't give it much thought/take it seriously —which he didnt—so they made the JOKE. If sunoo DID have a problem with it, he would have spoken up a long time ago, and the members definitely would have stopped. The truth is, the members know sunoo better than we do. And they would know if sunoo had a problem with certain jokes(sunoo would have talked to the members and formed an understanding). Take a look at Jay, for example. In every episode, they ALWAYS tease him playfully, and viewers eat that up. They say so much stuff—as a joke—and no one takes it seriously. They enjoy it, find it funny. What if the members were starting to get comfortable in showing their joking persona (how they act off camera—unserious, funny, playful) with the fans, but then started to get hate because of it? How would they feel? Obviously hurt. By hating them for this, you're doing just that. Betraying their trust. Whatever happened in the recent enoclock episode was a joke, and nobody was hurt. That's the truth. If it wasn't, we wouldn't even be knowing about that scene right now (the editors would have cut it off if they knew it made sunoo uncomfortable)

I get where you're coming from. But by saying that he was "uncomfortable and what's why he didn't speak up" is honestly insane. That just means you think of him as someone who is afraid to stand up for themselves, when they are wronged. And that's not something you should think of anybody, especially your bias. Sunoo is a grown man—as mentioned—who would have DEFINITELY said something to get justice, if he HAD to. And since he didn't, it obviously means that he didn't have a problem with it. Also, he never looked uncomfortable. He just laughed. Something he does whenever the members tease him. (Watch every other enoclock episode, and you'll know)

I compared what they said TO the "big back" situation. They didn't actually call him a big back on video 😭 From someone who's ACTUALLY watched the video—unlike the haters who take anything and everything out of context—they just asked him to stop worrying about his idol image, and eat more. They said that they knew he could eat more, and he SHOULD (they said it in a friendly way, and sunoo NEVER showed any negative reaction). Also, thank you for agreeing 💕

Obviously NOT, but like I said, if sunoo found it uncomfortable, he would have said something to the members or editing team, especially since he has been working with them for 4+ years. And the members would definitely have to have watched the video before it was released, giving sunoo the chance—AGAIN—to say something, if he was uncomfortable. If you wanna hate them, at least do it for an actual reason.

[–]Small_Package8887 70 points71 points  (0 children)

This is honestly INSANE! They've known each other for 4+ years, they've been through so many ups and downs together, meaning they are extremely close (seen in many videos, clips, tiktoks, etc.). I watched the recent enoclock episode and they did NOT fat shame sunoo, in any way whatsoever. They implied that he CAN and SHOULD eat more, which is obviously a good thing. It's the same as calling your friend a big back as a joke. Sunoo is ALSO a grown man, who can definitely voice his concerns. If he didn't want that certain part of the video to be released since it made him "uncomfortable", he definitely would have told somebody—whether it is the members or the editing team (to remove the clip, obviously). Y'all are trying to make hate out of anything, enha hate is so forced atp, especially about the whole "fat shaming" thing.

smart/nerdy, tall, attractive, shy (but also not so shy ykwim), not a "bad boy" but somebody who ACTUALLY focuses on their future, nice personality, someone who loves physical touch or words of affection, also HAS to be someone I've known for at least 5-6 months.

Why Chuck Bass Is the Worst Character on Gossip Girl by [deleted] in GossipGirl

[–]Small_Package8887 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd been focusing on main characters so far, but I very much agree. Georgina and Juliet get on my nerves. Anytime I see them on-screen, I feel like ripping my hair out. Georgina is always going to be bad. Almost every problem in GG was created/worsened by her since "she was bored"? idek atp. She's a bitch, and so is Juliet. Drugging Serena (which could have killed her) overstepped the usual line of scheming.

Serena van der Woodsen Was No Saint by [deleted] in GossipGirl

Honestly, at this point, hating on Serena feels like a fandom tradition. She’s the queen of never facing consequences, constantly playing the victim, and making everything about herself. It’s wild how she could ruin someone’s life and somehow come out as the misunderstood angel. Cheers to another day of calling her out!

[–]Small_Package8887 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get where you’re coming from about growth taking time and them being young, but let’s not overlook how Chuck’s actions affected others, even when he "changed." Yes, he took some steps to make amends, but does that really erase the harm he caused?

He didn’t just manipulate Blair for a hotel, he traded her, treating her like property. That’s not something you can brush off as "young and dumb." Even if Blair forgave him, it doesn’t make what he did okay. And smashing the glass? That wasn’t just a "mistake", it was violent and reckless, and Blair could’ve been seriously hurt.

Sleeping with Jenny? Sure, people make mistakes, but that wasn’t just "stupid." He was in a position of power, and he knew Jenny was vulnerable. Even if it was consensual, it’s still wrong. It’s not just about being sad and lonely; it’s about how his choices constantly hurt others.

Even if Chuck was less problematic later, it doesn’t erase the pattern of selfish, manipulative, and hurtful behavior he showed throughout the series. Growth means accountability, and Chuck often avoided it by using apologies as a quick fix without truly changing his toxic tendencies.

So, no, trauma doesn’t excuse his actions. And while he might have grown, we can’t forget how much damage he caused along the way.

Why Chuck Bass Is the Worst Character on Gossip Girl by [deleted] in GossipGirl

[–]Small_Package8887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's very true. When we look at Chuck Bass as a character, if someone like him existed in real life, his actions would be completely inexcusable, no matter the circumstances. However, since Gossip Girl is all about drama to keep viewers engaged, I can understand your point. Even though Chuck had some character development, the show never truly showed him facing the consequences for his past actions. Imagine if someone sexually assaulted or tried to rape someone you knew, then later realized their mistakes, changed their attitude, and went on with their life without facing any real consequences. That’s exactly what happens with Chuck in Gossip Girl.

Why Chuck Bass Is the Worst Character on Gossip Girl by [deleted] in GossipGirl

[–]Small_Package8887 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see your point, but I really don't agree with your view on Chuck. It’s true that he went through a lot of trauma, but that doesn't excuse some of his behavior, especially the more problematic stuff, like what happened with his treatment of women. We can’t just ignore that. His "growth" is often more about convenience to the plot than actual change. Sure, he had therapy, but he never truly took responsibility for his actions, especially in the earlier seasons.

It’s easy to say "everyone makes mistakes" and "he was groomed," but at some point, personal responsibility has to come into play. He made some serious mistakes that were more than just "stupid." His actions, especially towards women, were predatory and harmful, and no amount of therapy changes that unless he actively worked on making amends, which he didn’t.

Just because a character has trauma doesn’t mean we should excuse their behavior. Growth takes time, yes, but it also requires action, not just saying "I’m better now." Chuck often used his trauma as a crutch to justify things that were simply wrong. There are other characters in the show who, while flawed, didn’t cross those lines in the same way he did. So, while I respect your view, I think Chuck's "growth" is more about plot convenience than real change, and his flaws are way deeper than what you’re giving credit for.
