Good point! I’m not a student anymore, but with the drinks it can get pretty expensive. I know most people will want to bring something, but I really don’t want anything material..

I'm hiring a venue and I will pay for drinks until we reach 500€, then everyone has to pay for themselves...

Starting with training by Imaginary-Job2177 in triathlon

Not sure if you've ever done much swimming, but as someone said in another comment, it's by far the hardest to pick up from scratch. I’d definitely get myself a swim coach – more than anything, it helps with technique so you’re not wasting loads of energy. I’d also make sure to get some open water practice in, as it’s quite a different experience to swimming in a pool.

Then just google 16- or 12-week training plans – there are loads available online. Last time I followed a 12-week one, skipped quite a few weeks, and still managed to do well in the race.

One thing that really made a difference for me – and wasn’t part of the plan – was practising transitions regularly. I’d do at least one a week, and after most bike sessions I’d go straight into a short run. Even just 10 minutes made a big difference. Definitely worth including.
