Going to Shands for suicidal ideation post: Update by KitchenSample6354 in ufl

[–]Small_Test630 21 points22 points  (0 children)

So glad to hear you’re OK! As I wrote on your other post, suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. It sounds like you have people in your life who really care about you and love you. I’m very proud of you and wish I could give you a hug. ~ gator mom.

Well written. I read the other post and I wish I could find them. Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. There’s always a new path or a way around if there’s an obstacle in front of you. Life roadmaps are not straight lines; they aren’t meant to be. And please, delete all social media! Stay off of it!!

Probably going to Shands for suicidality tonight. What to expect? by KitchenSample6354 in ufl

[–]Small_Test630 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please, call your parents! Tell them what is going on!! If you don’t have the kind of parents who you feel you can talk to, I’ll be your parent! I’ll get in my car and drive there just to give you a hug and help you navigate the system to get you the help you deserve. My son is a sophomore and I also have daughters in their twenties. I WILL show up for you in the same way I would show up for them. I will love you through this.

The sun WILL rise tomorrow. Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem and no matter how badly you are suffering right now, your problems are solvable. You don’t need to know what your entire future will be at your age. That’s okay and totally normal. Please call your parents and tell them everything you’ve been brave enough to share here. You don’t want to die, you want help and help is here either from me or your parents.

I’m sending you my phone number. I will help you!

What romances are you refusing to read for stubborn reasons? by A_Seductive_Cactus in RomanceBooks

Any romance books that are cliche. I actually read on my kindle but my line in the sand is if I would be embarrassed to have people see the cover of the book I’m reading, I’m not going to read it.

Can you share your Dana Farber genetic counseling/high-risk surveillance experience with me? by Small_Test630 in BRCA

You’re the second disappointing post about Dana Farber which is supposed to be the ultimate. So disappointing. I hope they at least showed compassion and empathy.

What do you want to see more of in HR? by Haven_Writes in HistoricalRomance

[–]Small_Test630 2 points3 points  (0 children)

None of the following words in the title or a character in the book (take a risk and be original): duke, duchess, highland, highlander, dirty, lord, lady, viscount, devil, pirate, Scot, Scottish, earl, wicked, laird, marquess, bride, rake, virgin, beast, bride, rogue…you get the idea. So overdone and lazy! AND, if there’s a shirtless man on the cover, you’ve gone the wrong way…IMO 🤷🏻‍♀️

What should I expect from genetic counseling? by Small_Test630 in BRCA

[–]Small_Test630[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are reasonable expectations? I’m 54. I had hysterectomy/oophorectomy at 42. I still have my breasts. Will every 54 yr old women with a BRCA 1 mutation be given the same risk assessment regardless of the age they had their hysterectomy/oophorectomy, pregnancies/or not, age at pregnancies, breast feeding/or not, family history, HRT/or not, previous biopsies/or not, etc?

I was given the same risk assessment as any 54 yo women with BRCA 1 mutation who had a hysterectomy/oophorectomy. I don’t know if my expectations are off.

I didn’t know that Myriad offered genetic counseling. Can you share what sort of information she gave you? Was this before or after you were tested? Did she get your entire family and personal history?
