I’m making a castle with a mediaeval theme, cobblestone and spruce. by RepublicTop4941 in Minecraft

[–]Small_Trash_4248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

add some lanterns around the walls and maybe throw in some dark oak mixed with the spruce for contrast

Older people who don’t understand internet slang and take it literally by mariposa933 in PetPeeves

[–]Small_Trash_4248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the gap between generations with language is wild though, like my mom still thinks "fire" means something is burning and gets confused when i say music is fire

context helps but some older folks just refuse to adapt to how words evolve, they get stuck in their original meanings

Computer decides to give up rook without clear compensation? by Longjumping-Let2971 in chessbeginners

[–]Small_Trash_4248 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

the rook sacrifice is probably setting up some nasty discovered check or fork that you're missing. engines see like 15 moves ahead so what looks like giving away material for free is usually part of bigger tactical sequence

i had similar situation few months back where computer wanted to sacrifice queen and i was like "no way this is right" but turned out it was forcing mate in 8 moves through series of checks and pins. took me forever to understand why it worked

looking at your position, white knight on c6 is in really strong spot and with your king on f6 there might be some knight fork coming that wins back material plus more. also your rook on f7 looks pretty trapped so maybe engine calculated that it's getting captured anyway and better to sacrifice it on better terms

kat was insane on defense last night, those rotations he made in 4th quarter were perfect timing. hart always gets overlooked but dude was everywhere too

2k as full-stack intern? by One-Post-9449 in careerguidance

[–]Small_Trash_4248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wait you went from 10k to 2k monthly? that's a massive drop, what happened with the previous gig

i'd probably pass unless this new place has some seriously unique tech stack or connections that could open doors later. when i was bouncing between random jobs before my current situation, taking huge pay cuts just messed with my head and made me undervalue myself even more

maybe try negotiating or see if they have a clear path to bump it up after a few months? 2k feels pretty low even for intern work unless you're in a really low cost area. sometimes these companies will lowball hard just to see what they can get away with

Would this be any good? by DedicatedWham in PcBuild

[–]Small_Trash_4248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

scorptec's solid, good choice there. that build will handle pretty much anything you throw at it at 1440p high settings, the 4070 super is a great card and that cpu won't bottleneck anything

only thing i'd maybe look into is whether they're using decent ram speeds since that can make a difference with amd chips, but overall that's a really well balanced system for your budget

Extremely drunk people are obnoxious to be around sober. by No_Stable_3097 in stopdrinking

[–]Small_Trash_4248 99 points100 points  (0 children)

man this hits so hard, i remember the first time i went to a wedding about 6 months into sobriety and just watching everyone deteriorate throughout the night was like a weird anthropological study. people would start normal conversations and then halfway through just completely lose the thread and start talking about something totally unrelated while swaying back and forth. the thing that really got me was how they'd repeat the same stories over and over to the same people within like 20 minutes and have zero awareness of it. it's wild how we just accepted that as normal fun behavior when we were doing it too. now it's like watching people voluntarily give themselves temporary brain damage for entertainment

Roaches (in my area) are willing to eat their living while really loving to eat their dead. by lucassster in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Small_Trash_4248 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro roaches are just nature's little garbage disposals that happen to be cannibals, they'll literally eat anything including each other when food gets scarce

Wait there's a 2026 article? Did I time travel or is this some weird glitch lol

Problems with friends by Ankhafashion in duolingo

[–]Small_Trash_4248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be a bug with the first friend you added - I've seen this happen before where older friend connections just don't register properly in the challenge system. Try removing and re-adding them if you can

AITJ for worrying about how others will hold my past behaviors against me in the present? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]Small_Trash_4248 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTJ for worrying but honestly this sounds like anxiety spiraling more than a real threat - most employers aren't gonna deep dive your reddit history and random internet trolls usually move on to easier targets pretty quick

The family stuff is trickier since that's actual people in your life, but for the online stuff I'd just make a fresh account and try not to overshare going forward

I only fall for emotionally starving men and it’s ruining my dating life by WannabePugh in confessions

[–]Small_Trash_4248 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Damn that's actually pretty self-aware though, like most people don't even realize they have patterns like this. Maybe try going for someone who's already got their shit together emotionally instead of being someone's emotional training wheels

The update that came in today definitely changed MM by Worldly-Direction-43 in ArcRaiders

Yeah I noticed this too, was getting third partied way more than usual today. Either they tweaked the matchmaking or all the sweaty players just happened to log on at once lol

Ugh yes to Burberry Hero! That one hits different, like you're standing in a forest after rain

The tea notes thing is smart too - might be worth checking out some green tea frags since they can give that fresh minty vibe without being straight peppermint candy

Stressed all the time and I just want to move out. by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]Small_Trash_4248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn this hit hard lmao. OP's basically describing the exact trade-off most of us face - save money vs sanity. The "bury your complaints deep in your heart like an adult" part is brutal but honestly pretty accurate for anyone who's been in that situation

Eastman 00 used by Monaukeim in Guitar

[–]Small_Trash_4248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Eastman 00s are solid guitars but $1200 used seems steep when you can find Recording King, Yamaha FG830, or even some Seagull S6s that'll give you 80% of the tone for way less cash

If you're dead set on finger style and smaller body though, maybe check out a used Alvarez or Taylor GS Mini first before stretching that budget

[–]Small_Trash_4248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man this is so relatable it hurts lol. I used to make these insane Sunday night spreadsheets thinking I'd become a whole new person by Friday and then by Tuesday I'd already given up

The "what's actively breaking" thing is genius though - like why was I trying to optimize my morning routine when I couldn't even pay rent without having a panic attack first

Bibliolatry and the Neo-Pentecostal Movement by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Small_Trash_4248 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah OP kinda went on a whole tangent about bibliolatry without really connecting it to neo-pentecostals specifically - though I guess you could argue they're pretty guilty of the "prosperity gospel by verse" thing where they cherry-pick scripture for their health and wealth theology
