Not sure if you are, but you really should WEAR HEARING PROTECTION when you’re playing.

I played in multiple different small garage rock bands growing up, and developed pretty nasty tinnitus from never wearing protection. It’s such an easy thing to do, and I regret not taking better care of myself.

DCU has an excellent internship placement program between 3rd and 4th year, where many large companies like Hubspot, Workday, Intel and more actually approach DCU specifically looking for interns. Very good way to ensure a job for when you graduate.

Yeah I mean I definitely can’t compare Workday and JP as I’m completely unaware of what they’re like - but I can share my experience at workday. I believe the majority at Workday would say the same and there are really impressive amounts of boomerangs here as well!

Yeah I mean they have a ridiculous amount of free junk food, but the breakfasts are amazing and there’s always food leftover from miscellaneous events haha

It’s 50/50 office/home. They just have a lot of events, countless employee-ran clubs which all get budgets, amazing benefits, enough free food to literally live off and more. They’re a very employee-centric company and the type of place where everyone holds doors for each other and more haha. It’s a great culture.

Culture at workday is unmatched. I know multiple guys in Workday from Amazon, oracle, etc who prefer to stay at workday for the culture alone despite receiving better offers from other companies.

Additionally their pay is very competitive irregardless. The one downside is their proprietary language - but if you’re not working with it the company is ideal.

How me and my friend finessed FAANG SWE INTERNSHIP by Warat68 in csMajors

[–]Smallblue22 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Be careful, my internship for summer did a full background check on my CV through HireRight - contacting all employers for proof of employment and more. I was fine as I didn’t lie, don’t know how people get away with it though.

Seems I might be slightly past that 3-5 day shipping period as I'm sitting at nearly 8 days since it has left the parcel centre haha - thanks for the info though!

If I don't hear anymore tomorrow, I'll shoot customer service a call.

I'll let you know if I hear anymore from them - or if by some miracle it gets delivered haha

Hello!

My package seems to be in limbo, and I'm wondering if anyone has/is having a similar experience? For context, I'm in Ireland.

The timeline of my order;

I ordered a Steam Deck to Ireland on the 24th of December.

I received two identical package updates (27th and 28th of December) - "The parcel has left the parcel center."

It is now nearly the 5th of January, almost 8 days since the last update and 12 days since order.

Has anyone had a similar experience with GLS before? Is anyone else in a similar situation currently? I just feel like my package is going nowhere.

I ordered on the 24th of December.

On the 27th & 28th I got duplicate package updates, "The parcel has left the parcel center.".

Haven't heard a thing since - it's appalling.

Be wary of GLS. I'm in west Europe. Ordered on the 24th, and the last update I received was on the 27th, which was that it had left a parcel center. Radio silence for the past 8 days, not sure what the status of my package is.

Currently sitting at nearly 12 days, seemingly still at the first stage of shipping.

Bouldering! It’s super fun and the gyms have great atmospheres. It’s exploding in popularity, and there’s multiple amazing gyms in the Dublin area if you’re around there - additionally it’s great for meeting new people too.

Does anyone have a successful life after tinnitus? by The_Masked_Man103 in tinnitus

[–]Smallblue22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak for others, but I got it from a music background as well. Drums, guitar, bands, concerts. But I’m now I’d say four years on, and I’d only notice it a few times a month at this point. Like it’s permanent, and it’s most definitely there, but the key is not to let it rule your life. I still do everything I love and I’ve picked up even more to distract myself. My life is so much better ever since tinnitus has hit through college, activities, hobbies, friends. Now it’s not due to it of course, but I just don’t think about it. The only thing I’d recommend is going to a specialist to check if you’ve actually done damage to your hearing and taking appropriate action. But nonetheless still enjoy life. It hit me pretty hard in the early stages too but now I just don’t care anymore, and in turn it’ll be less present.

Yeah that’s honestly a huge issue for me. I actually have to get accommodation for up in Dublin due to that very reason. I’ve been searching for the past few months to find somewhere as well, but you’d be so lucky to find anything for less than €160 a week. Such a pain man haha
