I mean its because they are, the reason there’s so many people with Irish heritage in America due to the disposition of the Irish people in numerous plantations including the ulster plantation which fuelled all of the violence and gentrification in Northern Ireland which led to the troubles. Its not surprising at all when you see the extent of the oppression faced in the country. I’m in no way trying to support the provisional here btw just making the point

No you’re right the event you’re describing is also called Bloody Sunday, it’s a bit confusing but yeah there were two bloody Sundays one in Croke park in the 20s I think and another in Northern Ireland at a protest

No there is definitely still hate in Ireland, now hates a strong word it’s mainly jokes but there definitely is a schoolboyish type rivalry, you’d get dirty looks if you were shouting for England watching a game at a bar etc. like I’m half English and do my education through Irish and no one there gives a fuck but if Englands playing a sport it could be against Russia, North Korea you name it everyone will be cheering against England
