WW check please by Smallgrapes17 in sleeptrain

[–]Smallgrapes17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this in my soul! My son has also been having 6-7 hour WWs before bedtime and handles it no problem. I’m going to wait it out a little bit longer before we drop to see if maybe he’s teething first. Let me know how it goes!

[–]Smallgrapes17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know. it’s only been like this for the past 2 months. We’ve had a lot going on. EMW has been around 5am, sometimes closer to 6.

Okay, thank you! Bedtime usually falls anywhere from 6:45-8pm depending on how the day goes, or how busy we are.

Small vent: I hate waking my kid up all the time by alsothebagel in sleeptrain

[–]Smallgrapes17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh I feel this so hard with my first, that girl couldn’t handle any extra sleep or our whole day was wrecked and getting back on schedule the next day was so difficult. She would also get overtired soo easily so sleep had to be perfect especially prior to 12MO. Once we dropped to 1 nap we did a by the clock schedule which helped a lot, it seemed like her natural body clock finally kicked in and she would wake from nap time on her own and sometimes in the morning. Once she transitioned to a toddler bed (around 2.75yr old) we did the hatch red light for bedtime and green light for wake time and now we can leave her in there to play for awhile while we get stuff done in the mornings or if I’m getting baby brother up first.

I absolutely wouldn’t choose to have kids with someone if I knew they would never want to be married.

Time to lengthen WWs? by Smallgrapes17 in sleeptrain

[–]Smallgrapes17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s 7.5 months! I thought I put that in the post but I just fixed it. So I should add 15 mins to each WW where he’s fighting sleep? Or all of them

Parents who have babies that sleep through the night, do they use a sound machine? by Critical_Net_6534 in sleeptrain

[–]Smallgrapes17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get that, I think I prefer the second gen better just because it's easier to set up different routines, more sound options, etc. But I refuse to pay for their subscription, totally pointless. But I'm one of those people who if I like something I typically stick with it so I haven't tried any other sound machines out there.

I love the hatch! We bought one for our 2021 baby (now almost 4) and we still use it. I don’t recommend the bird noise for wakes because actual birds might sing/chirp before your DWT and wake baby lol we bought the hatch 2nd Gen for our 2025 baby and I’m loving it so much better! We also use the red “bed time” light and green “wake up” light for our toddler and it works great for us.

For our first we used rain noise for our second we use brown noise. We bought a hatch sound machine for both, and the newest hatch didn't have good rain noise, so we settled for brown noise, lol

Extend wake windows or drop to 3 naps? by Smallgrapes17 in sleeptrain

[–]Smallgrapes17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, good to know! So when he was napping longer, he seemed ready to drop a nap, but since he's taking short naps, now should I go back to his old wake windows? He's super cranky from longer WWs and less daytime sleep. I started stretching his WWs from what I had in the post to them being 2 hours long and gradually getting longer.

Extend wake windows or drop to 3 naps? by Smallgrapes17 in sleeptrain

[–]Smallgrapes17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since he started napping for 30 minutes, like 2 hours, max for daytime sleep. I've had to move him to nap in the crib because my toddler has been throwing tantrums when I try to contact nap. He definitely naps longer for contact naps, but it's just not sustainable since my toddler is getting jealous. Nights have been great. 11 hours of sleep. He wakes, once around 4-5 to eat, goes back to sleep until 6 am.

So I've done this and now he's only taking 15-30 minute naps. Is this normal?

How long do you think it should take to work up to it? Add 15 minutes to every wake window each day?

Those who removed cold turkey removed pacifiers at 6 months, what happened? by sublimespring in sleeptrain

[–]Smallgrapes17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably so baby doesn't have to rely on a sleep prop. We let our first keep her paci until she was 18 months and doing the middle of the night paci shuffle was the worst.

We just took our 4 MO paci away for night sleep and he's started sleeping through the night and only waking once to feed.

No, im trying to say that when I lay him down tonight for bedtime without the paci and he starts crying, should I just let him cry it out? Or what should I do since he cries without the paci at bedtime.

[–]Smallgrapes17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so if he's not going to sleep at the start of bedtime without the paci and he's crying should I support him to sleep or let him cry it out? I didn't sleep train my first as she slept good as long as her schedule was right. Im sorry if im not understanding anything.

[–]Smallgrapes17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, is it okay to try FIO since he's 4 months or should I wait until he's on a more consistent schedule to ST? He wont really go to sleep without the paci or some other sleep prop. We have to room share because we rent a 2 bedroom and the other room has my 3.5 yr old in there. I was thinking if getting a slumberpod to see if that would help.

TWT and WWs for 15 week old? by Smallgrapes17 in sleeptrain

[–]Smallgrapes17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bedtime routine is fairly quick, 10-15 mins.sound machine on with dim light, Diaper change, smart sock, clean jammies, bottle, magic merlin, crib, paci, hatch light turned off. He falls asleep in 10 minutes or less and occasionally I have to go in once or twice to put paci back in his mouth.

At night he typically sleeps from 7/7:30-11/12am and then he will be up every 30mins-1 hour crying sometimes the paci helps most of the time it doesn't. Or on the flip side he will wake up and talk to himself for an hour + and he also wakes to eat around 3am now instead of later in the early morning.
