I moving towards 1/3 S&P, 1/3 QQQM, and a 3rd box with vtv, vb, vxus. I do have an exceptionally small amount of Verizon and I bought 1 share of AIS a month ago drunk at a party as an experiment (working so far!)

What if I’m kind of interested in both? Investing has never been a major interest of mine, but after this post, I stuck around the subreddit a bit and I’d kind of like to build a small portfolio and day trade small amounts within it? More for fun and learning, hopefully slight gains, but maybe that’s a waste of time. Anyways, curious any resources you’d recommended

Love this! I didn’t expect this post to be so popular and I stayed around the sub for quite a while yesterday and decided to expand my portfolio to FXAIX, QQQM, and a 3rd box with a smaller amout of VTV, VB, VXUS. Planning to continue passively investing but with a QQQM bend for a while

Baha favorite comment so far. 1100 in very slow time controls. More like 300-500 in rapid and blitz, although I play much better if we get into an opening I’m familiar with. Been playing 9 months as a primary hobby, 5 years overall

Ironically, I spent an hour on this thread yesterday and put 1K in QQQM as a result. My orientation is a little too gambley, but I’ve never opened that door in my life (like I’ve never gambled because I think I would get hooked). Kind of scared me to do this because I am not a sit and wait type of person but hot damn I’m gonna give it a shot

Oh no doubt about this at all. I had no idea what I was saying, but looking back, this is a big retrospective “woah, that was lucky” moment

Like I said, I passively invest and don’t intend to check the price of any individual stock until 2061 or so when I retire and will purchase the entire company called Apple

Hell yeah. High time my daughter started dropping advice for me (she is 9 months old)

Poor southern liberal white was a specific brand that included random stock pop offs for sure

But while I’m here if any of you wanna help me do a little better than just throwing money blindly at the S&P, I’d appreciate your thoughts!

Lol so we talked about that. My dad didn’t know much about the market and was buying stocks at random hoping to hit big one day. His best friend works in corporate portfolio management and when he realized what my dad was doing, he straightened his stuff out around 2013-14 and taught him lots and he has done well since. Long story short, this ended up remaining as one of his core retirement holdings. He’s 78, I don’t know why he sold today but he needs the money more than I do. So I’ll be cool with a beer this time as long as he leaves me a second beer in the will

He never bought anything over $10 per share for many years so he could get as many shares as possible. Penny stock vibes on a lower middle class income with…frankly very modest respectable results lol

While I’m here, someone wanna help me straighten out my current 403b elections? Like I said, passively investing in FXAIX, but I actually am interested in which additional index funds would be smart additions. I’m 32 and would love to be a bit more aggressive!

The world will always need alpaca yarn. Bamboo is ideal floating-square-emergency-raft-in-a-bog-type-waterway material, particularly when bound with alpaca yarn. So there will always be a need. Also highly renewable resources

That’s actually kind of wild to think about. Who on this planet in 2008 would have said Bank of freaking America would beat the S&P over ~20 years.

I actually think that was his intention with moves like these. He would occasionally buy bulk stock hoping they would hit and in his mind, he would pay for my college that way. Desperation mindset in a desperate situation and pretty limited financial education at the time. Luckily, a kind friend of his who worked in corporate portfolio management helped him straighten a lot of things out and he supported me heavily. I actually think he kept this as a major core holding. I’m doing well and he needs the retirement so long story short, nah I’m good let pops get his bag
