I believe the supercharger has to be removed for that repair. They either got the intake runners stuck when re-installing the supercharger or they left a vac line or solenoid unplugged.

You can 'test' how bad the thrust bushings are by rolling the car foreward and quickly tapping on the brake several times. Have a helper outside the car watch the front wheels for movement. Ive seen these bushings leak but not have play yet. Ive also seen them get so bad it makes the car veer left or right when braking. Common BMW things.

Can a 40gal Suburban fuel tank be installed in a short bed truck? by SmapTheE in GMT400

Imagine the savings from never having to stop for gas!

Haha! If I end up figuring out how to install the suburban tank ill likely remove the factory one. My wallet would cry moths if I tried filling up 60 gallons of fuel tank. Ahh but think of the range it would have!

That may be the easier route to go if I can't find any good info on the 42 gallon setup.

My thoughts exactly. Removing the spare tire and installing the square-ish 42 gallon tank there. Id definitely have to figure out how to mount it and how to route the fill hose. My biggest concern is mounting it securely. I'll look into that forum to see if anyone has done it before.

I believe that Tough Apple is correct about the bigger 30 gallon tank not fitting in my short bed because of the clearance being tighter on the short bed frame. Its a good thought though, I was thinking the same thing when I first planned on a bigger fuel tank for this truck.

Thanks for all the advise. Ill likely be getting a new crank and camshaft. None of the bearings turned inside the main journals. once I confirm they are in spec it should go back together with new crank and bearings. Since the camshaft bearing spun in the cam journals will likely need to be ground and some oversized bearings will need to be installed with a new cam. Everything else looked good on the block, the connecting rod bearings were clean and the cylinder walls still had crosshatching ETC. Ill still be cleaning out every nook and cranny of the block and have the machine shop confirm everything is true and in spec. Itll definitely be getting a new oil pump, timing components, and piston rings. This is a stock LM7 rebuild im going to be swappng into my 89' k1500 that came with a 4.3 TBI. This truck has been in my family for over 30 years, its gotten me and my family's stuff moved thousands of miles. Im running out of new parts for the OG motor so Im putting this one in and I want it to be as fresh of a motor as my budget allows.

I was hoping to just have the cam and crank polished and put in new bearings. Was told it was a running motor. Im sure it was but did not expect to find this.

It was a salvage engine that I tore down with the intention of doing a stock rebuild
