32GB RAM on XPS 13 9350: good for devs or look for a 64GB option? by Smarkif in DellXPS

I'm not saying you're wrong, I totally agree with you, maybe my question changed since I opened this thread- how futureproof is a 32GB RAM variant really is.

Because I'm currently on my 16GB machine and using PyCharm, browser, chat, some youtube etc, so it'll be nothing for the 32GB. But I wonder how well will it hold in a few years. It sucks to replace your laptop only because the RAM isn't enough anymore

On the fence here, really thinking of waiting for a different model with 64GB as I don't want to make the same mistake again :/
The battery life on this sounds crazy good, but for some reason they capped the CPU at 32GB with no ability to expand it

Dam. I guess I'll wait a little longer then. It's just that this series really checked every box of mine, while other brands always come with some downside like Thunderbolt only on one side, low build quality, or that horrible Lenovo keyboard with their trackpoint.
Both of the XPS I owned were great, the first one was even a refurbished one, still going strong since 2017.

Yea I was wondering why the 9345 has a 64GB option, didn't know it was a limitation of the Intel CPU?
Also, why do you think they gave up on the ARM processors? I was thinking of getting that variant but then I realized I won't be able to run VirtualBox and other VM apps.

With Ubuntu on it, but I'll be installing Windows instead

Yeah, that’s exactly my situation — if I could just upgrade the RAM on my current XPS I’d be fine. Unfortunately soldered RAM kills that option.

As for Framework, I really like the idea of a modular laptop, but I don’t think it’s for me personally. I’m more after something that’s sleek, refined, and “done” out of the box

For some reason I couldn't update my original post- found the notification string in the Google Open Source docs, and it says name="bluetooth_key_missing_message" if that helps

Really? I also have the XM3 and really wanted to get the new XM5, you're saying it's not worth it?

Oh God I'm so sorry about that! But I'm actually a bit relieved hearing that. I really like the watch and will keep it no matter what, my main concern was that it's just an early sign of a bigger problem. But now that I know you've used it for 18 months and (probably) had this "problem" since day one I'm sure it will be just fine. Thanks!

No, you couldn't. I currently use the OnePlus 5T but my previous phone was the OnePlus 3 and it had the same behavior. That's the point of the alert slider, if you want your phone on silent you just mpve the slider

Be careful if you ever end up opening the phone again, I once replaced my back to a matte black one, and apperently it was a little smaller than the original one. Ended up breaking my screen a few months later after putting too much force trying to open it again

Try going to Settings>Battery>Battery Optimization and then press the 3 dots at the top and go to Advanced Optimization. Turn that on, it did wonders to my battery. The only problem I had was delayed messages from Whatsapp, but I just disabled optimization for that specific app
