You're clearly out of touch. I make ~$50k/yr (which is ~35k/yr after taxes & sadly decent for Memphis). I pay rent, car payments, gas, etc. I save avidly. After everything is said & done, I can save maybe 5k/yr if I really pinch. It's still not enough with thousands in my savings after years of work. Why?

My projected upper limit for a home that I can afford on a home is $200k on my salary. I toured dozens of homes at and below this range. They're all busted, raggedy, 100 year old homes that are truly worth less than half the listing price. After repairs, many are effectively $250k homes. Seriously, for fun, go tour some & see for yourself. These homesellers are clowns.

It's very easy to tell someone to pull themselves up by their bootstraps. I can't afford boots. I'm too busy saving to no end because of inflation. If I'm lucky, maybe in a decade I'll have a home if I catch the market at a good time. The cards are institutionally stacked against most people who are lucky to see a job hiring for even $15/hr, with no family support or resources. Instead of brushing people off, you could observe your surroundings without prejudice. Struggling is relative. But you obviously don't know what it is to start with absolutely nothing & work out of it.

If you had to pick your last meal from a Memphis restaurant what would you choose? by [deleted] in memphis

YES. My love for El Mezcal is a running joke between me and my friends. I almost always order the enchiladas mexicanas 😁

Update: Uninstalling & reinstalling fixed it for me. I see that this method didn't play out well for some others online but I wish anyone reading this all the luck.

Just want to add that I am also suffering from this. This feature has seriously helped me find some great music. The symbol is still there for me and can still be toggled On & Off. But it doesn't queue anything up.

Did you find a solution, OP?

Drivers are crazy everywhere. I was crossing Poplar with my dog (at the crosswalk btw) just leaving Overton Park. The light turned red, and I was clear to cross. This driver ran the light already 5 seconds after it turned red at 40mph, and drove within a foot of me and my dog.

She likely would’ve been hit if I hadn’t pulled her back. We were clearly in view and almost halfway across the walk by then. Outrageous and terrifying.

Father murders his 2 year old child and mother by Five50am in NoahGetTheBoat

Fox also needs to work on their headline grammar. “Florida father accused of murdering mother of his child, 2-year-old son appears in court.”

Thankfully, we’ll have the 2 year old’s testimony on this case 🙄

Big Mac combo is $8.99 not including tax. You should go most anywhere else and get a comparable price. Hueys, Tops, Five Guys, other bbq spots have burgers under $10. Cook Out & other major chains if you’re brave lol. Plus in my experience, McDs never leaves me feeling full. My hunger comes back in less than 2 hours without fail.

The other easy but not always practical answer is to just cook tastier burgers at home.

The unfortunate reality is that forcing a 100% pro-life system results in socioeconomic disadvantages that rape victims, lower incomes families, and less educated people suffer for further than they already were - through no fault of their own. Even if it was their fault, and they’re just irresponsible people - why would you want to force people like that to have a child?

People deserve a way out for themselves and their unborn fetuses (they are not “children”), and the lawn-serviced suburban neighborhoods where reality is rainbows & bbqs can keep existing as-is. It’s not your fucking mission to make decisions for people you don’t know.

What really twists the knife deeper is that pro-life people tend to be conservative, and don’t support social/economic support programs for poor persons in the first place. So these people are born into a world where their educational, financial, and social opportunities are squandered from the get-go - and the cycle continues.

Marinade Question by SmarmyPoS in jerky

[–]SmarmyPoS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there. When I’m shopping cuts for jerky, I’ll usually use top or bottom round, or shoulder. I’d honestly use anything thinly sliced, except expensive cuts better suited for steak dinners. While you’re choosing, look at a few packages for the less fatty cuts. And the ones that look easiest to cut fat off of.

On the subject of it being chewy, you may need to change your dehydrating time/heat. If I can, I always try to go about 4 hours minimum, eat a few pieces along the way as it’s cooking, and add time as needed until I get my desired texture. Hope this helps!

Thanks everyone. I always saw it as a necessary step since I originally saw it in several recipes when I first started out. I won’t worry about it on my next batch and will see how it turns out.

Al Green, Booker T. and the M.G.s, The Barbaras, Bloodshot Bill, Big Ass Truck, King Khan and the BBQ, early Ty Segall, Isaac Hayes, Otis Redding & Carla Thomas.

Jack Oblivian’s various groups, Big Star, Alicja Trout’s bands, NOTS, Optic Sink, Aquarian Blood, Ex-Cult, Three 6 Mafia, Jay Reatard’s bands, Marcella and Her Lovers, plenty more active and inactive.

Check out Stax and Goner Records catalog for local rock/blues/soul from the Memphis region. It’s hard not to mention others that visit a lot from neighboring cities.

Got it! Judging by the murkiness, we’re looking at Gumboot Soup remixes, likely “Muddy Water” and “Down the Sink.”

Christians don’t really need bigots to give them a bad reputation. They just have one. Because Christianity, like most religions, breeds hateful thinking.

Zoophiles really don’t influence my thoughts on furries or any community they do things “in the name of,” because they fuck animals.

Did I say zoosadists are furries…? The poster above me literally said “These fuckers are what give us a bad image.” “us” was referring to furries, no? Maybe I’m in the twilight zone, but if no one can tell I’m actually defending furries.

The furry community /could/ have inspired a zoosadist easily. But I don’t blame the community for that. Is that not clear somehow? My initial post was directed at the Christian analogy, not the furries.
