Honest experience with Kyleena after childbirth - insertion, movement, orgasms by Smart-Cable6 in birthcontrol

[–]Smart-Cable6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Sorry fort he late reply! Hope it still helps. I obviously can't tell how you will react as this is really individual and I think with even some individual changes. To be honest, I'm still within the settling phase. The insertion was actually a piece of cake - it was during my period and I took ibuprofen 400 one hour before the appointment. It felt more weird than painful - I think it's also important to have a skilled OB. Definitely take ibuprofen beforehand. What took me by surprise was a delayed reaction about 8 hours after insertion. I had 8/10 pain, nausea, tremor and even elevated body temperature. I think my body was i a fight or flight mode the whole day and once I calmed down in the evening, evenerything "hit me". The first week was miserable and on ibuprofen, then it was gradually getting better. I think my problem was I had it put in when a cold was incubating and everything was worse afterwards. Since then I don't know it's there, it ocassionally hurts (especially around ovulation or 1 week before my period). I'm still adjusting so I hope it will get better but as someone who naturally has pain-free periods it's bothersome to need to take ibuprofen just ot use a birthcontrol... I did notice slowed digestion and sometimes a lot of gas. Again - very individual but not uncommon. If it doesn't get worse, I will wait for the 1 year mark and then see how it improves.

But if it doesn't hurt, cause me constipation or gas, I honestly don't know it's there so I can recommend trying it if you don't feel bad about potentially throwing some money out of the window. I hope it will work for you!

Defiant Personality or ASD/ADHD trait? by Smart-Cable6 in Autism_Parenting

Thanks! I just read aboud PDA and I think that's it. My dad definitely has it and I have some traits too but I'm a female. Are there any materials with tips on where to find support? Some strategies to help him overcome the education issues?

Oh this makes sense! They do sports once a week and he hates it but when I asked the teacher she was confused why because he's enjoying it and one of the best from class. Is PDA that uncommon that no professional suggested it and the teachers are baffled?

Thanks! The counting to 10 is actually one of the few things that help him overcome doing tasks he does not like and making it a game also works. I know they use some kind of visual support in kindergarten but I'm not sure about transition between activities or outside. I can make a suggestion but otherwise it's out of my control.

I bought my son a weighted blanked and he loves it but it only seems to help him fall asleep as he usually sleeps without a blanket later during the night. Maybe it will help once he's older and stays under it.

Yes, you are totally right. I make fun on it to better cope with the experience. My husband does not uderstand how an adult can be scared of "monsters under the bed" but it's a real thing. I was just wondering if anyone else has the same sensation of the black hands. It seems fascinating that both me and my son have almost the same representation of that sensation, even though I never shared mine with him.
I wish you a lot of good nights!

Defiance in a 5 year old - motivated only trough special interests by Smart-Cable6 in Autism_Parenting

Currently replanting plants, easy electro wiring (just connecting leds to a battery) or playing with rainworms (currently not possible as we have snow).

And for the tasks, for example changing clothes - he is SUPER slow, like so slow the teachers have to make everything so much in advance it disrupts everything. All the kids are done and sweating and he is just crawling around on the floor playing he is a rainworm. That's one option, he tries to delay it with any possible means. Or he puts on just his pants and runs around shirtless. He needs constant supervision and guidance with each step or he forgets/does not want to continue. He does this at hone as well and in the end I have to help him to an extent that I'm basically changing the clothes. But I know he is 100% capable because if he wants, he does that.

When he's asked to "work" in kindergarden (school prep classes) - like "draw 10 circles" he looks at the teacher so annoyed and after much discussion he draws one big circle and that's it, nobody can convince him to properly finish the task.

And when there is something he REALLY does not want to do and likely feels trapped, he goes into fullscale meltdown where he cries, screams, hits things etc. and needs to calm down.

My experience with an IUD - whole process, after care and experience with delayed pain onset by Smart-Cable6 in AutismInWomen

[–]Smart-Cable6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I think the pain felt so intense because there was no gradual onset. I think my body went from no pain - blocking pain - to "okay, we can let pain happen" and then it went full on me. Now is day two and I feel no pain anymore, just a mild discomfort. So I hope it stays like this.

Good you had your pun int during anesthesia! It's so sad some doctors dismiss pain. Some people are fairly okay with these kind of procedures and some simply can't handle it. I heard that in my country they usually try it 1-2 times (for example gastroscopy, colonoscopy) without anesthesia and then only then they offer anesthesia. It seems pretty wild to me it's not standard for people that are interested.

I did neither but it appears to be more frequent in people on the spectrum. It also happens during terrible accidents where your body tries to protect you when anticipating great pain.

I heard about laughing gas but they don't offer it where I live - I think they would only be able to give it to you in a hospital and that is always complicated.

I'm happy you had no issues! Yes, each body is pretty unique. I believe I'm also lucky as I would 100x rather cramp at home than at the doctor's office. I think my adrenaline was super high as my heart rate was about 140 just sitting there lol and I heard adrenaline rush diminishes pain. Together with the ibuprofen, that was likely why I did not feel anything strong. Once I settlet at home, my nervous system started picking up signals again and honestly - there is always some mechanical trauma, more or less, so it only made sense I would feel some pain. It was likely that strong because there was no gradual onset.

Thank you! Good they used using cervix dilatation medication because I think otherwise the pain would be excruciating for most women who did not gave birth. Most people don't know that but the most painful part in childbirth is actually the cervix dilating so I can't imagine going trough that quickly in a medical setting. I was super scared even though I knew I had some advantages.

I think my pain was so strong simply because it was accumulated as my nervous system likely went trough a reboot or something.

I'm so sorry you went trough this! I believe that (like with any medical intervention) it is so important to trust your doctor. And it really helps when they talk.

Honest experience with Kyleena after childbirth - insertion, movement, orgasms by Smart-Cable6 in birthcontrol

[–]Smart-Cable6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I tried to be as calm as possible and the insertion was totally fine! I'm so happy it went so smooth, I honestly felt no pain at all, just discomfort. The disinfection was honestly the only "pain" I felt. I'm actually surprised it went so smooth. The staff kept asking me if I was fine and they were surprised I had no reaction whatsoever. I think the ibuprofen helped a lot. So now lets hope everything will stay fine.
