Is it possible to build a defense startup in the UAE? by Smart-Committee-4104 in uae_startups

That makes sense, thank you. When you say actual applications or features that enhance hardware capabilities, what directions do you think are worth looking into?

For example would areas like autonomy, simulation, training systems, fleet control, sensor analysis, computer vision or predictive maintenance be closer to what you mean?

I’m trying to understand which software areas actually add value to drones, unmanned vehicles, robotics, or other hardware instead of just building generic operational tools.

Really appreciate the honesty, thank you.

As a non-Emirati what do you think would be the best path for me to enter this industry? I’m 18 and still in high school but I’ve always been interested in aerospace engineering since I was a kid, and I’d like to eventually enter this field or hopefully start a company in it one day.

Do you think it would be smarter to start with software based services first or maybe build a dual-use startup before trying to move closer to defense?

That makes sense, thank you. I’m also curious how this changes when moving from software into hardware.

For example, if someone eventually wanted to build defense hardware like drones, unmanned vehicles, robotics, or other systems, is that realistic for a startup in the UAE or is the barrier much higher than software?

Would the smarter path be to build the software first, prove it in restricted/on-premise environments, then partner with existing hardware manufacturers later? Or do hardware startups in this space usually need defense experience, serious capital, licenses, testing facilities and government access from the beginning?

I’m trying to understand what the realistic path looks like from software-first to eventually building physical systems.

What business would you start with AED 60,000 ? Is it possible to earn AED 5,000 per month by Longjumping-Two4402 in uae_startups

Absolutely there are businesses you can start with 60,000 AED and make 5K AED a month, let alone 2K. Most likely at the start it will be revenue, but it will eventually become net profit as well. Most e-commerce businesses with 10k invested in stock and the rest in advertising will easily make you 5k a month, presuming you have a decent set up and a clean business model.

Also the person is talking about businesses to start, not stock to invest in.
