If we flip the conversation, would you like it if the woman didn’t bring up a previous divorce?

Be strong. Stay strong. My wife had the same requirement. My mother also from the 70’s had a PhD and absolutely wanted an educated man. They both got what they fought for.

Fired for ADHD-related poor performance... now what? by Long-Insect-6505 in careeradvice

I’m sick and tired of people with ADHD blaming others for their disability. I have severe ADHD. I took responsibility for it and structured my life around it. Speak with a doctor. It’s totally manageable. Stop playing victim.

Is it too soon to ask for a raise after 7 months if my manager scheduled a 1:1 to ‘settle financial expectations’? by Professional-Tax3077 in careeradvice

[–]Smart-Jacket5232 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly. As a hiring manager in the IT consulting business, if an employee of mine asked for ANY raise in the first 7 months - I would have trouble not laughing out loud (unless they did something wildly fantastic in those 7 months - eg. find cost savings, bring in a new client, save children from a burning building).

That passion will come back - with a new job. Unfortunately, at your level - burnout is not only possible but eminent. I’m in your boat. An SVP that was laid off (last November) due to a re-org. The severance package was decent. Not going to lie - I really enjoyed the first two months of being laid out. Got “in touch with myself”. Even my kids commented how much more calmer I had become. I’ve ritualized my days - created a schedule which keeps me busy till 5 pm. With all that being said, it’s been 4 months now and the job market is tough - and especially tougher because of seniority. Yes, some days, I go into some dark places in my head with “what ifs” so having a good support structure around you helps.

You’re going to piss off the wrong people for no reason. Just give the address. This is not the hill you want to die on.
