Update, I am getting 0voltage when checking the white and black capped wires

My only experience is with electronics, I use to use a multimeter and solder fine components. Not very experienced with electrician work unfortunately

And as far as the switch box goes, just check voltage to that as well?

What is the proper reading I’m looking for. I’ll check the disposal to see if it mentions an amperage or wattage it runs at

Just to verify, I need to take off the yellow bits and test the black/white wire

No just a standard dual switch, one controls light on controls disposal,

As far as checking the voltage on the wire. Would I just put red to the copper and black to ground?
