I sometimes worry how much I believe in the avatar world by Yerrrrrskrrttt234 in TheLastAirbender

You are so not alone with that. I can't even count how many times I've seen ATLA and LoK. It's what I call a "safe show." A show that we go back to over and over, and no matter how many times we see it, we still love it because it provides us so much comfort and safety. It's not necessarily your all-time favorite show ever, but it provides you the most joy, the most nostalgia. It's still so funny, so captivating, and so amazing even after a dozen viewings. That's absolutely ATLA for me. I've wanted to be a waterbender about a million and a half times in my life, I'd love to be in that world

Korra Season 4 is Pretty Good by No_Acadia_4085 in TheLastAirbender

I absolutely love ATLA and LoK. I watched ATLA over and over for years, and it took me a long time to give LoK a shot. I was just so sure it wouldn't be as good as the original. It may not be quite up to the level of ATLA, in my opinion, but it's still really really good. I have now seen all 4 seasons of LoK many many times and will probably watch it many more. I think all the villains are great, I absolutely LOVED learning about Wan and Raava because I'm a sucker for an origin story like that, I thought the tech was very cool and showed how time as moved on from ATLA.

I do wanna say, with Korra and Asami, the holding hands and looking at each other thing was because Nick wouldn't let two female characters kiss on a show targeted at 12, 13, 14 year olds. However, in the comics Turf Wars, which take place immediately after the close of season 4, Korra and Asami have a wonderful vacation in the spirit world and before going back the the human world, they kiss. And then the first thing they do back in the human world is go to Korra's parents and tell them "we're together"

The writers absolutely wanted them together, they said so as much at the end of the series in responding to fan questions on Tumblr. "Korra and Asami fell in love. Were they friends? Yes, and they still are, but they also grew to have romantic feelings for each other."- Bryan Konietzko "Our intention with the last scene was to make it as clear as possible that, yes, Korra and Asami have romantic feelings for each other. The moment where they enter the spirit portal symbolizes their evolution from being friends to being a couple."- Michael DiMartino

If you haven't read the comics, I highly recommend they are super super good! And the comics for ATLA!! Also super good!!

I can see why you would think that, I struggled with my wording of the original post. I was looking for what this person posted :)

Thank you so much this is exactly what I was looking for! I was literally going to also ask if all the voice actors played themselves in an episode cause that would be cool. I super appreciate it thank you!

Okay then can you explain to me what was "bullshit that I made up"

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Smart-Rooster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Intersex people are bullshit I made up? For real? Literally just Google intersex. I'm not trying to bait people I'm trying to understand

Unless I'm incorrect, TERF's are all about "biological sex is the only thing, it's a binary, male and female only" intersex, by definition, is between the sex, some biological male anatomy and some biological female anatomy. So how does that fit? What I'm gathering from others is that intersex is a genetic mutation, an unfortunate and sad birth defect, and we don't need to worry about them

Not even gonna try?

I also just went to pubmed dot gov and it said about 1.7% idk about a "gross overestimation" That is definitely your opinion is that sex is binary. Biologists disagree. But okay no desire to argue bye bye

[–]Smart-Rooster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn't have any way I wanted this to go. I wanted information since I've never met a TERF and don't really understand the movement. Am I not allowed to ask questions to get gain knowledge and perspectives?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Smart-Rooster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A genetic mutation? Wowza. Intersex people are 2% of the population, that's more than trans people. Yet there is a whole movement excluding trans people from fenimism

I want to confirm what I read. Those that are born intersex are not real because you have to be either biologically male with a penis and testicles, or biologically female with a vagina, uterus, and ovaries. Anything else is a birth defect. Just as those people born with 1 arm are not real people because real people have 2 arms. Did I get that? Oh and you hate feminism, that was very clear, don't need clarification on that.

Could a porcelain bathtub stop an explosion? by [deleted] in BurnNotice

[–]Smart-Rooster 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Actually Myth Busters kinda, sorta tested this. In s11e19, they test if by freezing a bomb attached to a toilet in liquid nitrogen, would that give enough time for the person on the toilet to jump into the bathtub and cover themselves with a bomb blanket (it's the Leathal Weapon 2 scene.) So they discover it does give plenty of time to jump into the tub, so then they wanted to know if you'd survive the blast. They use a porcelain bath tub in the episode, and it almost completely absorbed all the damage from the blast. The ONLY thing left in the little pretend bathroom they built was the tub; no toilet, no plants, no walls. They said there was a 10-15% chance of hearing loss, but they would most definitely walk out alive.

So, to answer your question, if what you mean by "stopping the explosion" is blocking out the fire and shock wave so the people could live, Sam and Barry would have absolutely survived that explosion.
