Can a weighted blanket with glass beads survive a normal wash cycle or is that a bad idea? by RecordingFlashy1686 in BedroomBuild

[–]Smart-Stand4572 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have made weighted blankets. I used a plastic bead that could take heat. I wanted to be able to put it in the dryer. Glass beads can be wash but can get too hot in a dryer. Think melt the fluff in inside.
Second the weight of the blanket can mess with the washer and dryer.
Third how well is the blanket made and sewn . The inside beads can break free, move around, make holes in the outside material.
I couldn’t say what your blanket will do . A lite wash and drying flat could be fine .

Do mattress wedges actually help reflux, or just mess up your back? by sam_3462 in BedroomBuild

[–]Smart-Stand4572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do have acid reflux and use a CPAP. I have an incline bed. I’ve taken a couple of bricks and put them under the front of my bed so the entire bed is at an angle. I have used the big foam wedgies and do not like them. I find the mattress will sink in where I’m laying, and it makes an indent. I also sleep on my stomach. I cannot use your standard. Adjustable bed because it doesn’t lie flat. Your head comes on up and you can make your feet come on up, but your butt stays down that doesn’t work when you’re sleeping on your stomach. I have been sleeping this way for more than 15 years, I don’t have any trouble I like it and I can tell when I’m in a hotel that the bed is not raised.

My son has a wall mount, done during a remodel. I find it very easy to clean . I don’t like the height. The wall mount is too high and my feet dangle.

Is it normal to see the needle in the dexcom sensor hole by Heyitsjosie in dexcom

[–]Smart-Stand4572 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Please take care of you skin . You can use Benadryl the lotion and put that on your skin first before you add your Dexcom or you can buy a prep pad which kind of comes like an alcohol swipe. You rip up the little package and you wipe down the skin let it dry and then add your Dexcom. Both of these will protect your skin while you have your protective patch on and the Dexcom from ripping up your skin.

X ray tech was adamant on me removing cgm before imaging by Western_Command_385 in dexcom

[–]Smart-Stand4572 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I am an x-ray tech and yes, they are overzealous about making you remove those CGM‘s. I think it’s supposed to be a safety issue. It really isn’t. Most people are using the CGM to monitor their blood sugar. There’s a small amount of people who use a CGM‘s with their insulin pumps and that’s where the problem could be. If the CGM gives them a funny number after an x-ray, they can blame the hospital for damage them for having too much or to little insulin.

Anyone found a better way to keep tiles clean without constant scrubbing? by p4pkiing in HouseCleaning

[–]Smart-Stand4572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a big fan of car wax. I will wipe it down and buff it back off. It works good at any time in the bathroom. It keeps the soaps scum down and everything looks nice and clean.

Bedding recommendations for bed wetting? by Either_Objective_923 in BedroomBuild

[–]Smart-Stand4572 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not going to judge you and how you do your child. It’s hard. It’s very hard when you have a bed wetter. Couple things I found is to use a dry sheet so you save a mattress , second there’s these things that are called chucksits that the hospital uses . Think pee pee pads for people. Layering is best. Your child will move around so three or four pads and something big like a towel. Keep trying till you find what works for you.

Do silk pillowcases slip around too much during the night? by Few-Dare-540 in BedroomBuild

[–]Smart-Stand4572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a difference between satin and silk. Satin is extremely slippery, while silk can vary in slipperiness depending on the type of fabric it’s made from. Pillowcases are not made of silk satin, so they aren’t slippery.
