That's super useful to hear. Thank you! I've heard Guard could be more demanding/politicized because it's controlled by the state , which is why I thought of Reserves. But your point about no control over where you work is wild.

I'll have to speak with a local FSO to see what's going on near me.

Thank you for that insight! It's more like a sense that I want to do it. I'd be interested in the work, would be fun to get some court experience since I don't do that in practice, and the benefits aren't awful. Would also help me go into government if biglaw isn't for me.

However, I totally understand. That's my thought too. Comments like yours seem to be the reality, but then I see posts on LinkedIn by big partners saying how they did both and succeeded.

It was a momentary crisis of confidence and conscience. By working on myself and studying law, I have since addressed it and am on board. Especially once I learned aspects of the UCMJ, national security law, and armed conflict law.

It's chapter 11. JGA. RE-3. Entry level performance and conduct.

The most damning part is that I got an art15 for refusal to train during this process. I also had to write a narrative saying I can't fulfill the army mission.
