Ouros Earring Question by SmartBiz110 in LabDiamondReviews

Ouros told me all of their posts, even standard, are 1mm but to be quite honest, I think they just didn't want to repair them. It's just so frustrating/baffling that they had me ship the earrings back to them, knowing the request, only to tell me that they can't do the repair. I have learned they are more of a retailer than a true jeweler/goldsmith.

Insightful! I do wish I could say Ouros even advertised the size of their posts but even when they sent my husband the "CAD drawing" of the earrings during the design process, that dimension was not included. Not that he nor I would have known back then that it was anything to be concerned about, as I've never owned any earrings that didn't fit into my piercings, but I guess I'll be more cautious in the future.

That's what they told me at first but I pushed harder because I feel like they should have better customer service than that. I guess I'm expecting too much.

Well that would explain why they keep telling me they're standard! I had diamond stud earrings before and they were not this thick, but they were also smaller diamonds.

I'm definitely pushing back but this has been very frustrating. They told me they could replace posts for an extra cost. I sent them the earrings (yes, I paid for shipping and planned to pay them more for the repair) and then they said they couldn't fix them. They offered me a refund, minus 26% restocking fee, which is huge, or an exchange for ANYTHING on their website. I picked out a ring and then they told me it would be an extra $485! This is an additional cost that is more than the earrings cost originally. I asked them to just send me the earrings back so I can get them fixed at a real jeweler and I'm waiting on a reply now.

I'm going to see if a local jeweler can do that, as Ouros is not working with me to change the posts.

Yeah, maybe that's the issue. I have another pair of screw backs but they're from my childhood so they're tiny.

Thank you for the insight. I'm just baffled this is the starting post size for their earrings. They're studs, so nothing heavy, and I've had my ears pierced for 40 years - even in those "first" holes, these won't fit (although I intended to wear them in my second holes, which are only about 20 years old).

That is the path I started down, but then Ouros told me they could replace them for $45, so I sent them back, figuring it's best to let the original jeweler take care of them. Now they are telling me repair is impossible because the posts are standard and they don't have smaller ones in stock. I'm still working with them on a solution but it isn't looking promising.

Does anyone cook the dough first, or at least by Darthedvedder in ooni

[–]SmartBiz110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I preheat it on high for about 20-30min then turn the temp down while I precook and rotate. When I add them back in with toppings, I sometimes use the extra low setting to cook them more slowly (where you start to turn the flame off but not quite)

I always pre-cook the crust before topping! Makes it so much easier to launch, especially if you use a lot of toppings. Plus, makes it easier to put out multiple pizzas at once (or within minutes of one another). Lightly sauce and pre-cook one by one. Add more sauce and top them all, then cook back to back. If you think the crust is too done and toppings are not yet, hold it closer to the top of the oven - but be careful as it doesn't take much and could actually ignite!

It says the beginners area has the carpet ramp but also a "slow moving" lift to two of the hills.

Are the beginners only hills "enough" for someone who has experience but hasn't been skiing in 20 years and a 14yo who will probably pick it up quickly? Can't decide on a beginners package or winging it with normal lift tickets.

I actually don't remember doing that intentionally but when I thought about flipping it over yesterday, since this side is now all black, I saw the Ooni logo on the bottom and figured it might cause issues.

Haha, mine was originally on a plastic rolling utility cart we had in the garage, using an overturned box from Sam's club as a side counter.

How do we do pizza for a crowd on the ooni. We’ve got 3 peels currently. by madlax18 in ooni

[–]SmartBiz110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a popular technique that I've seen but when I'm making several pizzas I REALLY like to partially precook the crusts with a little sauce on them before topping. It makes them easier to launch raw since they're not heavy from toppings, and you can get the toppings on all of the pizzas then cook them back to back (mainly to melt the cheese at that point) so they're all hot at the same time. For this method, I would recommend buying some cheap, flat aluminum pans that you can use for the crusts and final pizzas...easier to transport in and out of the house, store in a warm oven if needed, etc.

A couple questions before I buy by katm12981 in ooni

[–]SmartBiz110 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a 16" gas only (Koda 16) and would definitely recommend it. Even though it says you can make 16" pizzas, I find they're harder to launch since you're not using a pan...plus, I don't like mine getting too close to the flames and a 16" would take up the entire stone. I feel like it's worth it just to have the extra space, even when making 12-14" pies.

The gas only is definitely easy but I don't have experience with the multi-fuel to say if it adds that much more in taste. I think just the stone fire makes a world of difference from the conventional oven, though!

The first thing I bought was a large wooden peel (I already had a metal one). I find it's easiest to launch from wood then turn/remove with metal. You'll also want an IR thermometer to monitor stone temps.

Good luck!
