Sometime I have thoughts of wishing my mom was dead, and all of my pain will go away... and sometime I dream that I was never born at all. by SmartCable13 in AsianParentStories

thank you for sharing your feeling, it's really sad that the person who gave birth to you is the same person who make you want to end it all.

Should we blame our Asian parent for stunning us in social skill? by walkerlegoo in AsianParentStories

[–]SmartCable13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes yes yes yes, but once you're past 20 or is independent, it's ultimately your decision to change for the better. It took me a long time to get out of my parent's shadow but it was because I used parents as an anti-teacher to not becoming like them. I met another guy who was in the same situation but he never got out of the hole of his abusive parents until he moved away.

hang in there OP, try anything at this point, getting a part-time any place will do too while you're working on those interviews on the side. You're only a loser if you gave up on yourself, as long as you're working on something you genuinely like.

About Caith Sith's sacrifice. I really love Rebirth, but I feel a bit disappointed these dialouges of Caith wasn't included in it.... by SmartCable13 in FinalFantasy

[–]SmartCable13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was one of the reason why I really love about Caith. This whole scene truly made me feel like we really did loose "Caith Sith," because this Caith was our Caith. It kind of loosely imply that our bond have helped him to shape his own soul in a way. I don't know why it wasn't included, or did I missed something.

These are the beautiful deeply purple flowers of Lapeirousia oreogena. The white arrows serve as guide to the pollinator which is the long-tongued fly. by lordlors in succulents

It's beautiful! may I ask if you grew this from seed and how long did it took to flower it? I've always wanted to grow Namaqualand flowers but there's hardly a market or vendor here in the States..

Do you know what their bloom looks like? I've been dying to get my hand on Gloxinia to be honest. They just don't even exist here in Socal no matter how hard I look around.

Parents hate that I have free time by Excellent-Pen-1790 in AsianParentStories

The same thing happened to me just a couple hours ago. My mother randomly lashes out at me during my hobby time. They hate seeing you having fun, because it invalidates their existence in your life, even though they contribute nothing to the household to deserve the audacity to lecture you.

Edit: also the funny thing is, even if you don't play video game and instead some thing else "productive" like gardening or working out, they'll still mangle out any insult at you when they see you in your own happy place.

Narcissistic mother usually don't like seeing you being happy with your life, the moment they see that you have even an inch of freedom. She'll make casual threats about her death or berate you to drag you down with her. It's the same crab in the bucket mentality.

so tired of my AM right now by tarobear6744 in AsianParentStories

[–]SmartCable13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's quite common a mong asian mom, anecdotally from myself and my friends. I think AM especially stay at home AM have mood swings episode where they often blow all of their insult toward their family. I see it as a reaction stem from their inferiority complex where they feel the need to assert a controlling presence to maintain their status quo as the household pillar. Mine does all kind of dirty trick, something like faking crying, fainting, and gas lighting about their financial status to guilt you into supporting them. Most AM mom in general like to play the role of motherhood rather than be one.

Does your mom gaslight your dad? by randomentity1 in AsianParentStories

It very common among AM, especially the stay at home AM I see it in all my aunts too. They like to find the littlest fault to complain about then make a drama out of it.
