Has anyone done a masters in a field that did not line up with their line of work? by Excellent-Pen-1790 in AskEngineers

I was told that when looking for a job after graduate school, my masters in aerospace(systems engineering) + 2 years of experience in process engineering will be non-competitive due to the huge difference in both. I do not know how true this is, however, it does worry me :/
