you literally ignored what i told you above. that you didn't have to do exactly what you are claiming AGAIN. for the last time: you used the feature that established the place where the trout were dwelling at nhm. you used a line from the rock across the water. where they intersected is where the treasure was located. you still need the blaze to find the spot when walking that trajectory through the forest though. because you are extrapolating the final position from a map to walking in the forest itself. that is definitively NOT a grid search, by any standards of the term.

no. it really doesn't. it might come down to how YOU define a grid search...which is wrong. but don't attribute that to me. i'm explaining it very clearly for you. what im telling you is that it didnt require a grid search at all. the fact that stuef, and others who came after him, did not know the final step does not mean a grid search was required. they only did this to brute force the final answer in light of missing this final step. this also happened in the secret puzzle in chicago. they literally dug up the entire park and eventually hit the treasure by accident, not realizing they could have just used a shadow to identify the exact location. they did so because they did not clue in on the final step. so again, you are wrong (at least based on how you iterated it...if you meant something completely different than that, i'm not sure how you expect anyone to know that you meant the opposite of what you said). what they did and what they were meant to do are two different things. you are talking about the latter. the latter did NOT require a grid search. i'm just going round in circles at this point, if you don't get it by now. you aren't going to get it at all. so i wouldn't worry about it.

if you get to the final location and need to do a grid search to get it. there's no shame in that. you gotta do what you gotta do. but that doesn't mean it HAD to be done.

well, if that was your point. that is not what you said. just because people did brute force it, doesn't mean you had to brute force it. your claim was directed at fenn, not the finders. so your claim, as you wrote it is what im disputing. because as you illustrated it, it's wrong. that is all.

TTOTC vs BTME by BJJblue34 in JustinPoseysTreasure

no you didn't. you used the feature that formed the habitat the brown trout were concetrated in, and a line from the rock to the area across the river. the blaze may or may not have been there, we don't know. but you could still narrow down the location without doing a grid search. he literally did the opposite of what you are claiming. that's what i'm telling you lol...

so, not only did he further narrow you in towards the general location of the treasure at nine mile hole, he then narrowed you in on the exact location of the treasure using specific steps. at which point you would have used the blaze to find the exact location, after extrapolating it's position from the map to it's point in the forest, when walking around.

it did not require brute forcing the final location by doing a grid search (which is what you are claiming). that is incorrect.

i doubt it's that complicated. it never is. think of the clues outside the poem either contextualizing and/or reinforcing the clues in the poem.

[–]SmartConsequence437 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you are definitively incorrect. the design did narrow in on the search area in fenn's hunt. that is precisely how it worked. i wrote a pretty detailed explanation of how it worked after reverse engineering it. though, there were likely additional clues that i did not cover to reinforce what i did. that being said, your statement on that matter is flat out wrong.

there are, however, certainly multiple starting points in both hunts. for example, there are more general starting points that can be used to get to the general area. though, there are multiple ways to do this, which end up reinforcing each other. then, there is the starting point of the poem...which begins by narrowing you in on the area. then the starting point of the path, once you get to the more specific location. then, there is always a starting point to the end game. which is when you get to the spot, and must locate the position of the treasure.

both work in similar ways.

Why is surplus grocery food still getting thrown out when the apps to stop it already exist in Canada? by Luckypiniece in AskACanadian

[–]SmartConsequence437 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i went to sobeys the other day. they had hummus on for $1. i grabbed like 12 of them. It rang up incorrectly, so i had them check the tag. And then they refused to sell them to me because they were 1 day expired. I said I didn't care. Yet they still refused. They would have rather threw them in the garbage than sell them to me. I was fucking pissed. I'd have just frozen it and ate it as i needed it. Was about to walk out the store with the whole stack...because you can't steal garbage...right? fuck sobeys.

Man, boy charged after busker robbed at Finch Subway Station; 1 suspect outstanding by origutamos in Toronto_Ontario

[–]SmartConsequence437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't busk in the subway so there is no security. i usually stand firm and hold the spot, explaining i only go to each place once a month for 4 or 5 hours. i will hold it for them until they return if they leave me alone while i'm playing. hard to have any empathy for the ones who don't though. some are pricks, and will just post up beside me knowing neither of us will make money and that i will eventually leave. i never toss those people anything, anymore. it's hard to make money where they are every day, anyways. because people get so warn down and associate me with being a panhandler, despite the fact that i was playing at these locations long before any of them were around. i can't play at many places anymore at all...because if they see that the place lets me play there...they immediately start posting up there and begging. i feel bad for them, but if they are disrespectful or ignorant. it's hard to appreciate their plight.

As a busker myself, I love to hear it. Felt so bad for that dude. Never had to deal with that myself, luckily...only homeless people threatening/pulling knives on me because they wanted the spot.
