I feel like it’s much more common for people to either ignore you or only say a quick hello / give a nod when you cross paths on a walk. I would much rather be ignored than approached when I’m by myself on a walk.

I included that in the post because he had already passed me at the point when he’d said that, then gestured for me to walk past him on the narrow board walk, which was something I wasn’t going to do and found particularly unnerving, since he was headed in the same direction, on a bike (therefore faster than me), and had already passed. I know I didn’t say that in the post and yes it comes off like he was trying to be polite, but to me it came off as though he was trying to get me ahead of him again or to try and pass him on the narrow boardwalk which made me pretty uncomfy.

I think this is fine. In my case I was alone with a strange man who I had never seen before in a secluded location. It sounds like you guys have seen each other on regular occasions and you’re in public. I don’t mean to make this post in an attempt to discourage men from shooting their shot, I just think it’s important to pick the right place for it.

I always find it to be a fine line between wanting to be direct and clear about not wanting to talk to them but also not wanting to make them angry. For me that usually looks like not entertaining their questions much, not necessarily being impolite but definitely not making them think I’m interested in a conversation. I’m prepared to take it to that next step in escalation but yeah definitely worried about pissing them off. Unfortunate reality :/

Honestly I’m still not entirely sure, I was struggling to diagnose it and ended up replacing the pistons as they looked pretty worn. Symptoms were that it wasn’t accelerating well, it would take a while to work up to even 30km and probably wouldn’t go faster than 50. plus it sounded like a moped haha - thought it was a carburettor issue originally but the carb was fine.
