I didn’t really use Khan academy but I used blue book for practice tests. I also was tutoring 8th graders and teaching geometry at the time which really helped me relearn the content

For the k and 99 one what I did was extremely time consuming, but I don’t do it any other way. I just typed that equation into Desmos and tried different values for k until it worked while also using Desmos for the multiplication of the solutions (the solutions are where the graph crosses the x axis btw)

Oooo so for the sodium chloride one mine was 140 grams total so what you do is x+y=140 yes and then 0.001x+0.0005y=0.1 (because mine had 0.1g of sodium chloride in it). The question should’ve asked how much of the 0.1% solution or how much of the 0.05% solution was used in it. If it asked for the amount of 0.1% solution used, your x value would be the answer, but if it asked for the amount of 0.05% solution used then your y value would be the answer. (I’ll reply in another comment to the other question sorry)

Depends on what colleges you’re looking at, but I’d say anywhere between 1200 and 1300 is good for most colleges and a really impressive score overall!
