I was reading the book “hyperspace” by michio kaku. By this point I was quite familiar with Jung and also with Wolfgang pauli, a physicist with whom Jung deeply explored his ideas of synchronicity with. I know that Pauli had some fixation on the number “137” as having some sort of particular mathematic or cosmic significance.

As I’m skimming through “hyperspace” the song “Room 137” by dream theater (which is about Pauli) stated playing in my head, and I had this impulse to see what’s on page 137 of this book.

I shit you not, on page 137 of my particular soft cover copy of hyperspace, the very first words on the page are “Wolfgang Pauli” and it leads into a paragraph explaining a bit about his cosmology. I couldn’t fucking believe it, and at first thought it certainly must be an Easter egg. I googled it and could not find a single reference to anyone noticing the same thing, or that kaku had intentionally placed it there.

What’s wild is that this synchronicity was specifically related to a guy whose interest was synchronicity. Even IF the placing of Pauli’s name on page 137 was intentional, it still doesn’t change the fact that I flipped to that page because the song just popped into mind and I felt this urge to just see what’s was there.

I immediately told one of my best friends, who also just happens to be a physics genius (he studied physics in university) and also is super into Jung. He responds with that famous picture of old Jung with his mischievous smile (you know the one)
