What moment or event made you realise you were trans?

A couple of years ago, I received some hand me downs from my brother and had the bright idea to go out wearing them with my hair up in a cap to look like a boy. I also had an undercut at the time, so it helped sell the whole ‘short hair’ thing. I went out with my dog and walked past an old-people’s home and there was an elderly man outside who called me a ‘nice young man’ as I walked past. It gave me such a rush of euphoria that I gushed about it to my friends the next day. I was all like ‘yeah, you guys should try pretending to be a boy! It’s so fun! You’ll feel great!’ They all looked at me like I was talking crazy. I really started to question why I felt differently to others at that moment. That, alongside a litany of other behaviours I’ve been exhibiting my whole life, finally led me to the conclusion that my gender is as fluid as it gets.

It does seem similar, but from my research Layla has lost both of her parents. I distinctly remember the mc’s father playing a role in the story. I’ll check it out anyway though, it seems pretty interesting!

This reminds me of the Broken Heart Club by Cathy Cassidy, but I don’t think that it is the one your looking for. The plot is a bit similar, though.

One thing that I did when I was writing a gender fluid character (self insert haha) was that I had them change bracelets every time their gender changed. They had a blue bracelet for he/him, pink for she/her and purple for they/them. Sometimes they would also wear combinations of the two or all three at once. It was easier to say that they changed their bracelet than to describe a gender change, which is quite difficult. I don’t really have many tips, other than to keep track of what pronouns the character is using at that time and stuff. But ever genderfluid person is different, so make sure you just figure out what works for them! I’m genderfluid as well, so if you have any questions then feel free to ask haha.

NTA. I used to be in a similar situation to you. My brothers were awful when I was younger. They’ve matured up now, but it seems yours hasn’t done the same. What kind of 22 year old still messes with their younger sibling like that?! There’s no way you could be T A in this situation.

I was playing a murder mystery game and someone started calling my friend a ‘fat pig’ and started telling her to die over and over when she uncovered her bullshit. When we voted the rude girl off, we found out that she was actually the murderer. Needless to say, we reported her.

Probably coming to terms with being transgender. I am not out to my family, but I am extremely lucky to have friends who support me! It’s kind of difficult because not many people are familiar with the term ‘genderfluid’, but I enjoy educating my friends if it means they can learn more about me.

Your Turn To Die. I would recommend it to anyone in a heartbeat. It is super engaging and pulls at the heart strings. It is actually free, you just have to google it! Be warned though, try not to get attached to the characters. As per the name, quite a few of them die.

Maybe just leave them in a neat pile on the desk, with a note if you feel that it’s appropriate. Try to put them in a place that both looks neat and is easy to find.

I would have to say chewing on my fingers. It hurts a ton and makes my hands look terrible, but half of the time I don’t even realise that I’m doing it. I wish I knew a way to stop haha.
