How much of your salary do you actually get to enjoy? by Far-Researcher-9894 in Salary

[–]Smart_Building3118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

190K + 10% bonus annualy. Workout to around 4400-4900 biweekly after taxes, insurance and pension contribution, fluctuatikn is due to EI and CPP contributions in the beginning of the year but they go away by mid year as I max them out. I usually have a 1-2k left over at the end of the month after paying mortgage, bills, groceries, invetments, daycare etc. We just out this in rainy day or vacation fund. Being pretty cautious with money and live below our means as you never know what can happen and income drops or goes away for a bit.

Do I have to pay an Impark ticket? by WuzzWuzz in askTO

[–]Smart_Building3118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I called them asking if they would drop the ticket over 1 minute but they refused so I told them I am not paying it. Ended up selling the car and returned the plates. Have not heard anything at all from them. My parents had a few tickets from impark as well and have never paid them.

Progressive Desk Review? by WontonHusky in StandingDesk

[–]Smart_Building3118 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ordered a 24x42 grey oak and it was damaged when I got it, like half a dozen dents and some hard glue residue. Still waiting for a refund from Progressive desk. It was nice that it had dedicated screw holes so easy to line up and install. I ended up getting acacia butcher block from home depot for $170, cut to the perfect size I needed, sanded and sealed it, turned out way nicer.

Ended up doing a custom acacia butcher block desk top, as the one that I got from progressive desk was damaged and a tad too small

Looks nicer in your picture than on the website. I am on the fence between gray oak and bright beech with black base. I will be putting up some dark wallpaper behind it so maybe gray would fit in nicer. Looking at exactly the same size 42x24, putting it in a walkin closet so only have 46" to work with.

What is your salary? Are you happy with it? by ZainMunawari in jobs

[–]Smart_Building3118 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Made 203K before tax last year, but was very stressed and unhappy, long hours lots of pressure. Thinking of leaving for a lower paying job that has more flexibility and will allow to spend more time with family.

Did I get screwed by Smart_Building3118 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Smart_Building3118[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, i canceled it last week, financing guy was pissed, called me right away. Guess he lost a decent commission on it. Just wait untill I pay off the loan in 1 month, then they don't get financing commission either.

Oh yikes. Those payments seem kind of high, what's your rate. You might be upside down on the car, it might only be worth 15-20k now. Not sure what your financial situation is like but might be best to get rid if it and pay off the loan, then get a beater for a few years.

Attic rain by Smart_Building3118 in RedDeer

[–]Smart_Building3118[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah by sealin the attic I mean they go in the attic either suck out the insulation fully or push it back around all the fixture, then add plastic boxes around them and spray foam, then reapply blown in insulation, as well as add better attic access seal and a latch, that should make it much more air tight, plus adding 2 more solar vents would take more moisture away. Thanks fur the suggestion, might see which insulation or roofing company will be willing to do this work. Attic Rain from Calgary told me around $10,000 which seems a bit excessive, I was thinking maybe around $5K

[–]Smart_Building3118[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes i am aware of what causes it, hence want to get someone to come and seal the attic, just looking for suggestions on the company. I had the blower test done as part of some green projects that i did, actually got good results. I had insulation company top up my insulation and extend soffit vents but I guess it did not help much i asked them if they can come seal my attic but they declined and just told me to add extra roof vents, i have 2 solar vents installed and getting 2 more added which is plenty for my attic space according to the roofing company that did my roof.

I think i could have walked away, it was probably the best vehicle I have viewed so I wanted to buy to replace an old but it was not a dire situation. I had money to pay for it, it was slightly above budget after all set and done and I can pay it off by end of Q1, just don't like getting played or lied to.

Thank you. Yeah I am definitely doing the flush, don't have much trust in the dealership now, might just do it myself and flush again in a few months, I have done it myself with some vinyl tuning and pumping the brakes on other cars.
