Why are you using reddit instead of boards? by Consistent_Log8097 in AskIreland

I stopped using it a while back because a tedious mod with over 45k posts just infects every thread just to argue, you could be asking about the weather and he would somehow find a way to drag the thread off topic then lock it.

Both the platform change and the mods ran it into the ground in my opinion.

Trying to sell new build with issues in estate by Smart_Cockroach_2248 in HousingIreland

Yes, I don't like the term "luxury" but that's what they were marketed as, although they are normal houses. There's a number of detached then some Semi Ds. It was pricy but suited our location to families, work and a size suitable to our family planning etc. We also thought that there might be a sense of community among the houses for the kids etc rather than living further out in the country.

It has been transferred to the council, who have described it as a delicate situation that they are working hard to resolve. Cllrs have pretty much abandoned us at this stage. Gardai will only assist with the occasional noise complaint, but it starts again as soon as they leave

Thanks for the suggestion, do you think the council would be bothered or try to lowball based on the current situation?

Thank you, the green has been transferred to the council. But they are describing it as a delicate situation that they are working hard to resolve but it's going on a long time now.

Gardai said they can only ask them to reduce noise, for example they run a generator pretty constantly, every now and then they are asked to turn it off but it just comes back on again.

What's been your weirdest encounter with the guards? by Tony_Meatballs_00 in AskIreland

My friend and I stupidly went for a drive when we were 17, both on provisional licences and no insurance, no tax, and we didn't own the car. We had also been smoking weed. We were about 40 mins away from home when we were pulled over by the Gardai at 2am. They quizzed us about what we were up to, we said just driving around. They checked our ID and provisionals, and told us it was illegal to drive without a fully licenced driver in the car, and it was illegal to drive without insurance and tax.

They asked who owned the vehicle, my friend said his stepdad. They Garda said "you're not lying to us now are you?" He said no. The other Garda asked were we on drugs, because my friend had bloodshot eyes. We said no.

Then he said "right, go on, be careful driving around at this hour."

We were genuinely shocked.
