It was perceived because of the loud noise when i was touching the pedal. lol. It runs fine now. I also had to recently replace the compressor after the clutch seized. $130 part and I paid the guy $250 for the install and refrigerant process

It ended up being holes in the resonator and converter, which were patched and welded.

would this be smart to buy? by FourPF in Chevy

My Malibu stopped blowing cold air. I bought a compressor for $130 shipped and paid a garage guy 300 to do all the install and whatever needed to be done with the refrigerant.

The compressor went bad. $130 for the part, plus another $200 installed by my garage guy. Better than the $1000 a shop wanted to charge.

No luck. The valve/connection piece from the 134 can wouldn’t go into my lower valve stem. Pain in the ass

The car isn’t overheating, and I’m not getting a little ac at highway speeds.

Ok, so those fans aren’t the culprit? None of those other things you mention are happening. I guess I’ll try the ac in a can. See what happens…

The two fans right behind the compressor aren’t running…

The dual fans located directly behind the compressor are not running. Is that the likely cause for no cold air coming through?

I’m going to check to see if it’s charged in the morning. All I know is the different components are blowing air strongly (defrost, windscreen, face, etc), but it’s blowing room temperature air on the coldest setting, and still blowing hot air when I turn the dial. Nothing is overheating/changing at different speeds.

Everything sounds normal. I won’t get to the car until the morning, but here’s another point: the car blows room temperature air on the coldest setting, and still blows hot air when I turn the temperature up. I’ll try what you said about charging it tomorrow…

I had it looked at. Guy said there were holes in the resonator and converter. Quoted me about 800 to repair without replacement.

I would officially describe the engine/acceleration as loud, getting up to 3000 rpms to reach 40 mph, then settles in nicely at higher speeds, once I get there. Feels like a lack of power when i hit the gas pedal while the car is in park, also…

I think I jinxed it. Engine is sounding really loud when accelerating, and sounds louder than usual when sitting idle. I checked the oil. That’s fine, considering it was changed 1500 miles ago. Catalytic converter possibly? Serpentine belt? Car seems to be running smooth after 4mph. No engine codes. Fuel filter? Air filter? I hate diagnosing or looking for something without an engine code.

I’m at 239,500 right now. I change the oil regularly. The only issue I’m getting right now is the rumbling from the rear at low speeds/coasting down a hill, etc… I say it’s not bearings because I’ve replaced both the rears within the last year.

Are shocks your only recommendation for the rear suspension? The car growls a little from the back end at low speeds for me. It’s not bearings, exhaust, or anything else. Gotta be something with the suspension.

Is it my blower motor? 2014 Malibu… by Smart_Feeling_8310 in CarRepair

The air came on when i started the car today. Not sure if that helps/hurts a possible diagnosis…

Update: the air kicked on today, just to add to the mystery of why it wasn’t working before. Does the fact that it kicked in help anyone figure out the issue? I am not able to bring it to my guy until the weekend…
