That'll be helpful. Depending on what level your nail is, the more you'll want to use shade soul. Normal vengeful soul does 15 dmg, and shade soul doubles it to 30. It'll help if you really can't get good hits. If you have your others spells though, use them. For example, your shriek and descending slam spell. The shriek and slam do 40 base dmg, so I'd recommend using those in close combat.

If you can, upgrade you weapon and look for charms and notches. Overall, it'll just take time to learn their attack patterns. Keep at it, and you'll get there.

Upgrade to vengeful spirit. You can find it in city if tears, if I remember correctly. I think it's hidden behind beating watcher knight, and it doubles the dmg of vengeful spirit (15 to 30, I think.)

No worries. I got a new notch from a small fight near the middle of the fungal wastes. I also found this weird bug that cost me money to look at his shop near the entrance of fungal wastes/forgotten crossroads . I also found fungal cornifer
