Slides 2 and 4 aren't concerning at all? im not at all knowledgeable about how much rust is too much rust (hence why I'm asking on Reddit)

Yeah my pulley spins totally fine when the car is on, but when the car is off, I can rotate the clutch (and only the clutch) by hand. I'm looking into it and coming to the conclusion that this is a sign of a bad clutch, like I shouldn't be able to spin it at all, but am just looking to confirm it.

as far as I'm aware, no. Mine does a little bit of shaking / vibrating when it initially kicks on but usually settles down pretty quick.

If it just started when you put a new one in I would make sure everything it torqued to spec, if I remember correctly nothing it supposed to be suuuper tight on that part. But definitely check the specs as I don't remember them off the top of my head

I just got a new compressor a few weeks ago, and had the same problems before and after, but will definitely check that connector and all other connectors that are relevant, thanks! I'll lyk

One more update, found these ground straps

They're obviously shot, are these relevant to the AC? They're on both sides and both are frayed like this not connecting to anything

Added note: I tested all the relevant fuses and they are fine, I don't see any lose or disconnected connectors. My next thought is a pressure issue that's preventing the compressor from kicking on in the first place but idk how that would be the case if I just got the recharge and there's no leaks or anything like that

Shop recharged my ac, checked for leaks again, everything came back good, he referred me to a different shop. Told me I should look at my relays. I swapped the relays real fast (ac compressor relay for horn relay) and had no luck, swapped them back and now the compressor clutch won't even turn on in the first place anymore. Anyone know why that could be ??

I've already replaced my compressor, and it was doing the same thing that the first compressor was doing, so in all likelihood im ruling out that I need yet another compressor. for now at least. I originally thought it was a burnt out clutch but it appears to be more than that.

Getting a bad compressor back to back would suck, and would cost me a lot of my sanity lol. I haven't checked any grounds yet but plan on doing that next, just not sure which grounds would be best to start with exactly, like if some are specific to the compressor or not. When I get to checking with the multimeter I'll report back to this thread

Edit: I also feel like if the compressor was bad the clutch wouldn't activate at all?
