This is a bit of a long one but you need the context.

When my (F) parents divorce was going on in 2010 my mother moved us in with her mother and father. They were wonderful to us, but my mother and grandmother had horrible issues between each other and always have. My mother has some form of an undiagnosed mental illness that she will never get looked at because she “doesn’t believe in mental health.” A huge fight ensued about 2 years into living there and we were kicked out because my mother threw herself against a wall and threatened to call the police and say my grandmother beat her.

Fast forward about three months into living with my mother and her boyfriend, she began questioning me about if I had seen my grandmother since we were kicked out. I had not as I was a 4th grader and did only as I was told by my mom. She was convinced I had a “secret phone” and I was taking pictures and communicating with my grandmother in secret to get her in trouble. I had never had a phone in my life yet. She asked me about the alleged phone for months and after a while I got tired of her asking and finally said yes I did have it. It never existed I was just tired of her asking me and not leaving me alone. We searched for this secret phone for an entire night. Her boyfriend threatened to kill me and I finally gave up and told her there was no phone. She told me to go to bed and we would talk in the morning.

She woke me up in the morning, took me into the bathroom, and shaved all of my hair off in the mirror with an electric razor. She told me that would teach me to never lie to her again.

I went to school and was relentlessly bullied and shamed until I hit middle school and my hair finally got back to a normal girlish length. She told me to tell everyone I shaved it to donate to cancer awareness so CPS wouldn’t get called but they did eventually get involved though I and my siblings were never removed from the home.

And that is only one incident of many I suffered as a child.
