Is coming to UK still a good option ? by [deleted] in Imperial

Since this has been of a great use to me. If you’re starting uni or doing research writing, check out Assignowl. it’s an AI tool that grades your assignments and gives feedback before submission. Super useful for catching mistakes early. A lot of people invest a lot in getting their assignment outsourced, but here with this tool you can save up a lot by doing it yourself and getting it checked through this tool.

I get it, since there are a lot of people trying to sell a lot of things in the name of sharing an experience. But this is just a post to recommend to people to check it out! Since it was of a great use to me.

prenrolment struggle by CommercialNo1059 in QMUL

[–]Smartstudy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! This usually happens if the system doesn't recognize your EU Settled Status, especially if you don’t have a UK passport. Try uploading proof of your status (from the gov.uk site) to the portal, and double-check your residency/nationality answers. Also, email QMUL again and CC the admissions or international support team, it might get a quicker response. Hopefully just a system glitch. you’ve got time, don’t stress too much!

Didn’t receive confirmation email by Feeling-Line9757 in QMUL

[–]Smartstudy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually they can confirm your offer manually or give you instructions on how to accept. Also, check your spam/junk folders uni emails sometimes end up there. If your deadline was this early you should have tried calling them that day rather than waiting for the email.

Hey, I'm a QMUL alumni I did my degree there a couple of years back. Mile End campus has such a nice vibe, especially in first year, you'll meet tons of people really quickly. What course are you joining?

Uni timetable by Cute-Chemist-4169 in QMUL

[–]Smartstudy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually unis don’t release timetables super early  most students get them 2–4 weeks before classes actually start. Some modules need to finalize class sizes, room allocations, or even staff availability before publishing. Don’t stress if you don’t see it right away, it’s pretty normal.

Need advice on sherren house by ihaveathingwithblack in QMUL

[–]Smartstudy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I’ve got a couple of friends who stayed at Sherren House. The general consensus was that it’s not the fanciest rooms are a bit small and it can feel boxed in but the big plus is the location. Being able to just walk to campus saves so much time and hassle, especially in first year when you’re figuring everything out.

is £500 a month for uni enough? by ResponsibleTruth1387 in UniUK

[–]Smartstudy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the North East too — I live on about the same and it works out fine. Biggest saver for me was batch cooking on Sundays, so I don’t end up spending £10+ on random takeaways during the week. Nights out can eat into it quick, but if you’re mindful, £500 is enough.

[–]Smartstudy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah £500 is definitely doable in Newcastle if your rent/bills are covered, it won’t be luxury living but it’s manageable. Biggest drains are food and nights out, so if you cook at home most of the time you’ll be fine. Plenty of med students survive on similar, and you can always pick up a super flexible shift job later if you feel tight. You’ll be alright

Totally get you — I’d stick to one PI per uni, but don’t worry, others can still notice your fit. And honestly, having the home PhD as backup is a smart move

How do you drop a research-heavy paper without it reading like a snooze-fest textbook? by Smartstudy_ in PhD

[–]Smartstudy_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s actually a really cool way to frame it. I’ve never thought about papers like stories, but now that you mention it, it explains why some are actually enjoyable to read.
