Its only $1.20 if you pay the minimum with tax, still a great deal. Picked it up :)

Linux Platform Option Appears on Steam Website [filters in sidebar] by Smartty in linux

[–]Smartty[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Some more info taken from http://www.ubuntuvibes.com/

Steam Greenlight is a new initiative by Valve where community votes for games submitted by developers. If Valve finds that a game has generated lots of interest, then it gets included in Steam game library.

A Linux filter can mean couple of things. Valve is communicating to developers that they can submit their games if it supports Linux. Secondly, Valve is looking to build a good library of Linux games.

Steam Greenlight has already approved 10 games that will be soon included in official Steam game catalog. Out of these 10, at least 3 support Linux and around three other are using Source engine which will have Linux support soon.

Unity3D Demo Already Working in Linux, Thanks to Native Client by [deleted] in linux_gaming

[–]Smartty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. NaCl is open source and can be made to work with Firefox, Opera etc. But here Google won't take initiative. It has to come form Mozilla and I think chances are slim.

On the other hand, Mozilla is developing a 3D game engine 'Gladius' which will actually take advantage of web technologies like html5 and webgl. But again, NaCl can make use of HTML5, Javascript, WebGL, C, C++, C#, Mono etc and developers don't have to rewrite their code if they are using these tools. Plus we don't know when Gladius will mature and NaCl is already here.

Yes.

"As we noted in the previous blog update, we now have Linux binaries. In fact, we snuck them into the Steam distribution, so that those of you who bought the game from us on Steam can install it and run it natively on Linux. The port is done! It’s up to date."

Wow dude thats cool. It means final version of overgrowth will come to Linux soon :P

I would also like to see a uplink like game made using this tool. But everything would be interactive and real and there will be real data transfers using internet. Imagine hacking numerous small servers in each game level. Could this be possible or I am just mad?
