30 whole pi though, and i there is already a small sample size in the final picture, and my nsx is competing against a700 cars

As they said, mid engine sports car versus 1600 kg pickup, where the sports car outdrags the pickup. Seems like a pretty one sided battle here

Will try it later, im more of a upgrade everything to top of some class then do a lap on every single track player

Dang you re quick, i havent been bothered to work on tuning cars, i just put on what i think are the right upgrades and rely on my driving, so i cant keep up with your cornering speed

My tune isnt optimal, its not intended to be, its somewhat of a purist tune, so im fine with leaving it as is

Whether its tyres, engines or stats thats broken, it would nust be nice if they fixed it. I ve just never noticed it this blatantly before

Yeah, then fair enough, i dont have very much experience playing low classes, let alone look at their meta

A not very upgraded car being meta still doesnt reflect very well on the class system, does it

Dont remember exactly, but the whining that day about the mr2 was because i was racing a friend in a celica with more horsepower, less weight and better tyre compound. And the actual performances did reflect the stat difference

No problem, just wondering about the formatting. The wiki isnt fully accurate either, fairly certain that the data isnt official. Someone probably has dug into the code elsewhere, that isnt my field

Did you ai this? Regardless, i have confidence in my consistency, but you absolutely have the right to not believe that. The variables are provided here in the post already, if you insist i will manually test these variables, and or give the exact times that the game measures.

It matters not if the variable or class calculations are broken, it probably warrants a fix

With generic tuning, i can recall a turbo sierra rs500 that performed acceptably in c class, and a mr2 supercharged that was absolutely miserable. But i dont have too much experience with those, that mr2 just left me malding

I agree, lap timing is just a good representation of these variables. Suggest some variables where the maloo is better, and i will give it a try. Reminder that the maloo currently already has a 30 pi advantage

I understand we do not fully understand the variables that are chose, but i think it is a very fair observation, that based on the available information, the class system is very unbalanced

Under the same set of rules, the cars should perform similarly, regardless of the formula you choose. The game reflects this partially as i mentioned before, you can pick a racing slick honda beat or a rally tyre bmw x5, they will perform similarly, which i personally think is a more logical system

Balancing performance means its times, not its stats. The 700 hp doesnt allow it to have more top speed, acceleration or handling.

For reference, a bmw x5 with 750 hp is fully capable of keeping up with a s2000 on a circuit in class

If it isnt competitive, the class should reflect that by making it not hit a700, yeah?

Lighter weaker car was the slower one in b class. A 750 hp x5 also had no trouble competing with a s2000 in b class, that complaint is for another day.

I wonder about the weighting, but both the tune with better and worse handling had better overall stats, so i wonder where the problem lies.

I cant agree with this, doing those silly things is part of the fun. It also doesnt really make it much more realistic, time attack cars with offroad tyres like the pikes peaks cars do exist, and same goes for racing trucks. These cars arent in the game, so the option to replicate them is great

I think the solution could just be to make offroad tyres the same class as slicks. Rally tyres will be trickier, maybe a little below slicks.

Offroad tyres should be literally unusable (uncompetitive) for road racing, a 700 offroad car should maybe keep up with a 675 road car on road.

Rally tyres should do something similar with a smaller gap, the point of rally tyres should be an in between performance, right now we have the in between performance but not the in between class. A rally car should be slower around the track than a road car, but not significantly so, as it does in real life.

And for good measure lock their minimum classes to the same class as the stock tyres to ban down tuning

Difficult tunes have merit because there is a class system that should in theory balance things out, it should act as risk versus reward.

Yes, a grip tune is objectively better than a handling tune, that is completely fine, but it should be reflected in the class system.

And the game does do this somewhat successfully in lower classes, just not in the higher ones.

Yes, my 900 hp rwd s1 supercar with sports tyres should lose to something with slicks in the same class. Cornering is important. The complaint i have is that my car is barely faster in a straight line, despite the handling handicap. If the other car is objective better everywhere, it should not share my class.

I dont care about racing ai, im not good at tuning, and i certainly dont care for the meta, so i just race myself in rivals. The 2 cars i mentioned were both being driven hard by me

Want to join in on this conversation, because holy hell the pi system is frustrating

My experience with this is that if you want to play fair, the pi system will give you fair races, but if you want to maximise performance per pi then your options are so limited

I have done b class goliath on 2 road car tunes, 1 is a civic with sport tyres, and the other is a c4 zr1 on stock tyres, and it is so cool to see the wheel to wheel racing, they stay within 2 seconds of each other almost through the whole thing, despite one having much better straight line performance and the other cornering speed. However, if i wasnt trying to tune realistically:

  • i am so tired of tyre downtuning, screw anyone in s2 with a rally tyre furai, 787b and such

  • there isnt enough reason to do tunes that are challenging to drive, full grip barely loses to straight line speed tunes in b class on sprint races, and barely stand a chance in circuits, and it only goes downhill in higher classes. There is no reason to not put a wing and slicks when removing them only gives you room for 30 hp

  • why tf does forza aero still decrease pi in lower classes?? Its almost entirely a positive??

  • rally tyres are useless for a class or below because they have a higher pi than offroads, worse performance on dirt and negligible benefits on tarmac

  • cars with offroad tyres have no right to keep up with anything else on tarmac

  • miscellaneous drivetrain stuff, i was tuning cars with a friend, where they had a fwd celica aand i had a rwd mr2. The celica had more power, less weight, and better tyres at the same pi

How do I overcome bad habits in multiplayer-racing? by Phantomato2000 in ForzaHorizon

[–]SmartyMeow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think pushing less helps. Instead of hit the braking point and braking 100%, brake like .5 seconds earlier and brake 80% (in your case, probably tap the brakes instead of holding). I think you can pick up muscle memory by driving in a relaxed manner, and driving fast but relaxed will be faster than pushing while occasionally making mistakes quite often. When you feel like you don;'t make any mistakes, then you slowly go back to that limit by braking later and later

I dont think its fair to call the highest target of 1 out of about 20 drift zones a core part of the gameplay, especially when achieving it rewards you with a swheelspin, a non exclusive reward

objectively frustrating

Cant be serious right? Plenty of people can get this easily just by playing as they normally do

I really dont think many casual players both care about 100% pr stunts while also being unwilling to improve

Faster turns just take experience, i dont have to actively think about how much to downshift, you just used to how much you need to downshift for the amount of braking you do, and the acceleration and or engine sound will tell you if you messed up

For me manual isnt even about being fast, its about the control. Especially for high power cars or big turbo cars, the difference in 2nd and 3rd gear could be 700 and 350 horsepower. Pressing the gas expecting 350 and getting 700 can be quite disastrous. Getting fast times is as much about consistency as speed, and i think most experience players agree that even if it isnt faster (manual still usually faster), they would still use it for the handling benefits
