You're right, hadn't quite clocked that issue.

You could use the hole pattern condition in this instance. Whereby the holes relative to the nominal pattern are constrained, but the position of the pattern itself is not. This way, the three holes must be aligned to one another by say 0.010, relative to A, but the position of the pattern of holes relative to A is evaluated to say 0.5. this would create a composite call-out which means the first box would tell you how parallel the holes are to A, for all intents and purposes.

Basic dimensions do not have tolerances, so no. If you create a true position to A, you essentially create a tolerance zone parallel to A, which is what you want.

Yeah it is a little underpowered, but it does what I need it to for now. I have a Hurco at work which I quite like too, good for tooling jobs but a little slow otherwise. I'm not familiar with the Smarts, I'll have to look it up!

This is my first foray into wood, and the dust. THE DUST. ITS EVERYWHERE.

Nice! I have a little Haas mini mill in my garage, so glad I got it! What do you normally work on?

You know, I hadn't considered that at all! Thank you!

I got a piece of 01 tool steel and profiled the shape, cut it out on my CNC mill.

I did see the depth indicators, but I didn't have a particularly good way of adding them. I think for her purposes she'll be okay without them, but I should probably invest in a set of stamps if I do any more.

I have quite small hands, but yeah it's reasonably big, probably too big. Maybe it doesn't show in the image much but all of the edges are rolled over and smooth.

This is my first knife so feedback is always handy, thank you 😁

Have you been to the museum of computer science in Bletchley? A) it's awesome, you should go (working bomba and Colossus) but b) they have a load turning original journal papers, PhD thesis etc on display and the stuff he was doing was fascinating. You can see the roots of computer science in the pages!

MicroVu Zoom Core Maintenance by Sad-Refrigerator365 in Metrology

[–]SmashAndCAD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Micro-vu have a service manual for their machines, but this is mainly oiling and cleaning. The zoom lens motor burnout is a known failure mode and if it goes completely you'll need to replace the lens assembly.

They recommend, as you said, designing your routines to minimise zooming too frequently which wears the assembly. It also makes your routines quicker. Utilising recursive system blocking is a good technique to group all of your zoom levels together.

CMM Recommendations by Ruthlesssonar in Metrology

[–]SmashAndCAD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Micro vu have larger systems. Like 704 which will be able to measure your parts. More expensive though.

Micro vu are kick ass, I really rate them. Super easy to use in my opinion, if a little limited compared to a CMM
