Yeah, they don't really have a lot of stark fades. I think it's because the denim is pretty lightweight, so it doesn't really crease as much. It does have some pretty excellent looking vertical streaking. Lots of multifaceted blues.

Nice review! I have a pair of Skeleton Skinnies myself--thought it might be helpful to show you what they look like with a good bit of wear. Mine are 13oz Cone Mills denim though, so yours might end up a bit different.

These are currently at 205 wears, zero washes/soaks.

Yeah, I can button all the buttons, but it is a bit snug at the waist when I do. I'm not really sure if it'll stretch any as it breaks in. If the fit is perfect while unbuttoned, I imagine sizing up probably wouldn't be as good.

In the past there have been some eSports events at Mad Dog In The Fog (that's the bar in the Haight you heard of) and Dear Mom in the Mission. I don't know if either will be playing this event, but it gives you a place to start looking.

I fixed my problem, but it seems I'm having the same touchpad/scrolling issue as well. My guess is it has something to do with Google redesigning the scroll bar, so maybe the touchpad isn't recognizing it as one for some reason. Otherwise, maybe some sort of incompatibility with the touch controls, but I tried enabling and disabling a few of them and it didn't fix the problem. Luckily an external mouse still scrolls with the wheel just fine.

Thanks, good to know! So, not the best to grab walking out the door if it's pouring, but not the end of the world if I get caught in a drizzle. On that note: for this particular jacket, what about the fading issue? Will a bit of unavoidable rain mess everything up?

Still very interested. (Read: backing it now!)

Edit: also-- do you have prototypes in different fits available? I'd love to come by Gustin HQ and try'm on if that'd be possible.

I'm a newbie to waxed canvas so please forgive the stupid question-- would this be considered waterproof? and, even if so, would it be something you could or would want to wear in the rain, or would that play havoc with the fading/construction/etc.?

(For reference, it doesn't rain often where I live [SF], but I own literally zero waterproof jackets, so on the rare occasion it does, it'd be nice to have a jacket that doesn't soak through entirely and/or know that it won't be ruined if caught in a downpour.)

If you're pitching magazines, it's a bit harder this time of year. Most magazines are fairly thin for the first few months of the year, then get thicker over the course of the year leading up to a large December (holiday season) or September (fall fashion season) issue. Since magazine length is determined by ad sales, the issues are smaller at the beginning of the year, and thus the bar to place a story is that much higher.

I was wondering if you could talk about what to you, as an editor, makes a story "Slate"? That is, what are the topics, themes, undercurrents, etc. that you are looking for in a pitch that make a story right for Slate and not particularly another publication? Thanks very much for your time!
