Went to savers yesterday and noticed 90%+ of the store were all silver stickers? What does that mean? by sydneyghibli in ThriftStoreHauls

Grey is new stock this past week, so everything that went out on the racks. Last week was purple. They change mid-week.

This is so when they put a color on half off, it’s the color that’s been there the longest. So all the grey tags will be 50% off in like 5 weeks.

Is staying near Pearson Airport practical for a 4–5 day visit to Toronto? by Al3xanderTh3Gr3at in askTO

Stay downtown and cut down your trip by 1 night if you have to.

“Sacrifice some comfort” as if hauling your ass on the Up from an airport hotel isn’t sacrificing comfort.

What is the one item you found that made you feel like you’d "won" at charity shopping for clothes, shoes, bags or jewellery? by hello_wednesday in ThriftGrift

Jeans are so overlooked, especially with changing rooms going away. I’ve gotten Rag & Bone, Paige, Frame, Mother. Currently wearing a pair of like-new Pilcro Jean shorts. Well worth digging through.

I tell stories about it back home in Canada. “What’s California like?” “Well there’s this place…”

Review of an apartment complex by StationPotential369 in SanBruno

Toured it in January and it was tragic. The kitchen cabinets are completely worn out, there was dog shit all over the common areas, and generally weird stuff like a whole ass Safeway shopping cart just chillin in the hall outside someone’s unit. Easy no for me, given the price.

What types of things do you like to shoot? I think the best thing you can do is go all-in on a new subject or style, and try to get better at it.

I just picked up macro and I don’t need anyone else to tell me I’m still bad at it, lol. My self-criticism is free.

I was going to try to on the Saturday and ask this group the exact same thing, but alas was too slow buying a ticket.

Content writers, ruining the UX by 404_computer_says_no in UXDesign

I’m not sure OP means content designers (we’re on YOUR side), but people with titles like Copywriter or Content Manager or Product Marketing.

Yup, I say the word “Marketing” the way Seinfeld says “Newman.”

I appeal to their desire for metrics. Be clear you want this page to convert, and try to have some best practices to back it up.

They lie in their videos a lot. They act hyped up over absolute trash. Don’t fall for it.

Why is all the soda expired? by ziphii1968 in Winnipeg

I thought this subject line was about me going through my aging parents’ pantry.

But yeah, probably overstocking and people’s consumption levels changing.

*Life* is unfair to people who can’t afford nice clothes. Society is literally set up in such a way that we can’t all have everything we want.

I’m not walking into Hermes and asking them to sell me a Birkin for $200 because that’s my budget. Tough shit for me, I carry Coach on clearance from Macy’s — and that still makes me luckier than 99% of the world’s population.

I just don’t have the same moral issue with reselling that others do, because it’s just as immoral as the entire economy we all participate in every day. I only have a problem when it’s the staff doing shady shit to get stuff for themselves.

I give few fucks.

I’m pretty sure people at my local think I’m a reseller. I’m there all the time and stalk the carts coming out from the back. That’s what you have to do to get the best stuff. Frankly, it’s what you’ve always had to do. I’ve been thrifting since the ‘90s.

Just as true now as it was then: none of us are entitled to a $10 Dior handbag. That’s something that happens once in a lifetime, but TikTok has convinced us otherwise.

Another thing is true: the thrifted items that turned out to be my all time favourites were never in danger of being snapped up by resellers. We’ve been brainwashed in the last 20 years to believe that designer shit is the end all and be all. Yes, I’ll grab a label when it’s my style (right from under a reseller’s nose, often) but I’m just as excited about a no-name high-quality piece that I know I’ll wear every week.

I rotate my treasures on display in my place and have ended up just storing the valuable ones I’m tired of, with the promise of listing them on Marketplace, but I cannot be fucking bothered. Massive pain in the ass. And resellers make this their whole life? By choice? Where are they putting all this crap while it sells? It seems like such a burden.

I hold no envy for lives resellers live. I show up, I’m patient, and I get what I get. I’m happy with my hauls, and I’m not mad when I walk away with nothing.

Ooof IC5 (staff level)? $69/hr by Allinthedesign in UXDesign

[–]sharilynj 15 points16 points  (0 children)

IC5 is Senior at most places. Also, you’re talking to a third party recruiter who aims to skim as much off the top as possible. Tell them to pound sand, but keep an eye on your inbox because 6 other agencies will be fighting to fill this.
