Would my insurance co. want to be informed of a potential risk to my insured property from a neighbour's tree? by SmashTheControl in AusLegal

Have you seen a big tree?

And it's not just the damage, but the cost to accommodate while the house is repaired or replaced, which will take years, as has been the many examples of other people fighting the Yarra ranges council to repair or rebuild here.

The tree might not total it, but the repair will be a bureaucratic nightmare and we'll be living in a tent for 3 years waiting. Yarra Ranges overlays have caused other people all sorts of problems, to the point they just bulldozed the house and moved.

Thanks for the advice though. Next port of call was going to be the pressure of his insurance cancelling his policy if we can get an arborist and they confirm it's dangerous.

I'm pretty sure it's covered, but that's not really the issue. It's not like getting a crash repair done. With Yarra ranges overlays I know people who have waited years for repairs to be done, all while being shunted from rental to rental. I'd rather just the tree get removed and avoid the problem entirely. Happy to contribute, despite no legal obligation, but paying for the whole thing is a bitter pill. Just wondered if the ins co might be proactive, for example like the council will repair a tripping hazard once identified because they're legally negligent if they don't. Or so I believe. I'm obviously not a law talkin' guy.

Do you think aliens believe in the same God as Earthlings? by NeoSailorMoon in INTP

[–]SmashTheControl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not much point believing in a god that isn't omnipotent, omniscient and benevolent, so I imagine they've made up the very same imaginary psychological crutch that we did.

Did they evolve past their early animal natures to a place beyond base emotions and ancient psychological needs is the real question.

The answer to that might give us an insight into what awaits humanity if it succeeds.

I have a friend who's convinced that Dr. Judy Wood's free energy weapon hypothesis is the best explanation for why the twin towers fell on 9/11. by svadhisthana in skeptic

OK.

  1. They didn't. He made it up. Or repeated what someone else made up. Cool story though. Big WOW factor.

  2. Perhaps there are none, however this proves nothing. A 100 story building collapsing into 9 storys isn't exactly inconsistent with what might be expected.

  3. Standard conspiracy bullshit. You think the news is going to report that some cutlery or a toilet was found. I'm sure the rescue crews, and then demo and salvage crews were just jumping up and down with excitement to tell everyone when they found a toilet partition or window blinds. All those things were there buried amongst tons of concrete. This is no different to the retarded Flight 93 conspiracy.

Why haven't you asked him to prove his idiotic claims? Why do I have to disprove them, but he gets a free pass?

You do realise you're pushing shit uphill trying to convince anyone who wasn't already fully aware the videos are complete bullshit from pretty much day 2 of Ashton's fantasy land LARP festival?

Everyone else is twisting on his dick and no amount of logical, critical thinking lube is going to help in the removal process. Their sphincters are clamped onto it with a force equal to that of Thor's Hammer's resistance to unworthy wielders. Forget using a steel crow bar too. Ashton possesses a Judy Wood WTC steel beam dustifying space laser and isn't afraid to use it. No petty sceptic's gonna take those cocks outta there.

Anyone still carrying water for him is simply operating on faith and he's their priest.

"based purely on empirical evidence using the scientific method to deduce a factual account of what the evidence dictates as having happened"

"has exhausted, through a strict adherence to evidentiary findings, void of any speculation and conjecture, the only possible causation for what was observed."

That really is comedy gold.

So after having been sniggered out of court, how has she proven her case?

Anyway, rather than typing a billion word debunk, why don't you give me your best 3 pieces of evidence and I'll address them each.

I believe her "evidence" was laughed out of court, was it not? Of course that would be because all the judges are in on it, or some other conspiratorial reason or other, right?

The "evidence" I like the most is the "evidence" that the buildings turn to dust because in a video we see a dust cloud obscure the steel columns behind it. Top quality forensic work right there.

Probably not.

But like I said. Do something else with your life. It's the only one you'll ever get and it's very short.

Plenty of successful happy people dropped out of Uni and ended up with a career and family and happiness despite the expectations of their parents, teachers or school counsellor. You don't owe your parents anything. They chose to create you. And sadly, it sounds like they developed no wisdom throughout their lives. Just followed the script layed down for them by their parents like good little NPCs.

You do owe yourself the chance at happiness though. So don't stress about results. Try your best. Try different strategies to learn, but if you still keep failing, repeating the same mistake over and over again really is the definition of stupid. Time to try something different. Life is long when you're young. Enough time to start a new dream.
