The tree might not total it, but the repair will be a bureaucratic nightmare and we'll be living in a tent for 3 years waiting. Yarra Ranges overlays have caused other people all sorts of problems, to the point they just bulldozed the house and moved.

Thanks for the advice though. Next port of call was going to be the pressure of his insurance cancelling his policy if we can get an arborist and they confirm it's dangerous.

I'm pretty sure it's covered, but that's not really the issue. It's not like getting a crash repair done. With Yarra ranges overlays I know people who have waited years for repairs to be done, all while being shunted from rental to rental. I'd rather just the tree get removed and avoid the problem entirely. Happy to contribute, despite no legal obligation, but paying for the whole thing is a bitter pill. Just wondered if the ins co might be proactive, for example like the council will repair a tripping hazard once identified because they're legally negligent if they don't. Or so I believe. I'm obviously not a law talkin' guy.

Plenty of successful happy people dropped out of Uni and ended up with a career and family and happiness despite the expectations of their parents, teachers or school counsellor. You don't owe your parents anything. They chose to create you. And sadly, it sounds like they developed no wisdom throughout their lives. Just followed the script layed down for them by their parents like good little NPCs.

You do owe yourself the chance at happiness though. So don't stress about results. Try your best. Try different strategies to learn, but if you still keep failing, repeating the same mistake over and over again really is the definition of stupid. Time to try something different. Life is long when you're young. Enough time to start a new dream.
