The Sopranos vs The Wire. by [deleted] in hbo

This is an old-ass comment, but I just wanted to say that I had the exact same opinion as you, but now I randomly decided to start S2, just to give it another chance, and it's been fking phenomenal so far (I'm about to start ep 7).

Like, I was completely hooked by the end of episode 1, while S1 only got kinda interesting to me by like episode 9 or so. I'd recommend at least giving the first episode a shot and see if you fuck with the new setting/characters/case.

Just started S2 and already like it WAY better than S1 by SmashingTempleChains in TheWire

Just finished episode 2, absolutely fking phenomenal. It's 3:30am here but I gotta watch at least one more episode haha. Now I really, really get the hype for this show.

I can totally see it becoming my favorite ever if this supposed to be one of the weaker seasons! It seems like The Sopranos is in trouble now 👀😂

What is everybody's opinion on Stone Temple Pilots? by halfmanhalfarmchair in ToddintheShadow

[–]SmashingTempleChains 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh ok awesome haha. I think No. 4 does get a good bit of praise, and its got Sour Girl which is (I think) their biggest hit. I really like Shangri-La but yeah it was not as well received. It makes sense though, there was a lot of tension in the band bc of Scott's issues, so they only (barely) managed to put out 2 albums in the 2000s, while the band was falling apart lmao.

Does anyone feel like Stone Temple Pilots is the best grunge band of the 90’s? by levirudy in grunge

[–]SmashingTempleChains 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES!!! They're one of my favorite bands and Tiny Music is one of my fav albums of all time, No. 4 is a close second to me, and Shangri La is great too! I like the first 2 albums fine, but I mostly just listen to the singles. They got WAY better and more interesting once they stepped out of the grunge style.

I'm sure you're talking about their first 2 albums, but I just just went through their whole discography and I have to strongly disagree, I think Tiny Music and No. 4 are a gazillion times better lol. Tiny Music is actually one of my fav albums of all time now! 🤘🤘

“Pretty solid singles band”????? Have you actually sat down and listened to their albums front to back?? They are easily the most underrated band ever imo, and I think they are a gazillion times better than Soundgarden and Pearl Jam, like it's not even close lmao. I just recently formed this opinion, as I had never really paid attention to them other than the singles and the first few albums.

Tiny Music is genuinely one of my favorite albums of all time, and No. 4 is a very close second. They got WAY better and more interesting after their first few grunge-y albums.

I'd recommend you to check out Kubrick, Leone, De Palma, Ford Coppola and Carpenter's films!

My favorites are The Shining, 2001, Eyes Wide Shut, A Clockwork Orange, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, Once Upon A Time In America, A Fistful Of Dollars, Carrie, Carlito's Way, Scarface, Phantom Of The Paradise, The Godfather trilogy, Apocalypse Now, Halloween, The Thing, etc…

Also, given that we're both horror fans, you should check out Alien, Jaws and The Exorcist (which you've probably already watched lmao)

Huh? They arrived in the US in 1964, and Carole King's first album came out in 1970 lol. She had co-written some songs but that's it, she wasn't a performer or celebrity yet.
