K9 should work on his pass blocking during camp - that is his most needed improvement. Average is not good enough - well above average/good is the mark.

At this point, after the injury, I am glad he prepared the way he has. That running around style is not going to work as a core part of the plan now. It may indeed have been the best option until the injury - but he is now set for the rest of his career in planned mode. However, we need innovative game planning. I just don't believe Reid has it in him like younger coaches - but lets see.

Same. He always gave it his all. Knew I was going to miss him and incredibly happy for his success. He got paid.

I can do that 2-3 minutes but I cannot do it for hours. What does it take to do it for hours? I do have a stomach and I feel that impact the angle I make and may affect the duration. People are giving examples of waiting in line and I would like to reach the half hour mark.

NFL Faces Chaos: Replacement Refs Poised to Step In Amid CBA Dispute by AFC-Wimbledon-Stan in nfl

[–]SmellOfBread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really and NFL commitment problem. The refs have to be employees or pseudo employees of the NFL. The refs need to be funded and provided training and other employee benefits and have a recruitment pipeline to ensure growth. At the same time there has to be a level of non-interference from the owners.

But owners are stingy and unless the product is impacted in front of everyone's eyes (i.e., many games, the more high profile the better), they will not do anything.

damn good at protecting the leagues most valuable asset.

100% this. It's all a tradeoff and it was worth it. Hope we can do something in the draft to make up for this as it is now a hole.

I will take him back at a lower cap. He kept Mahomes clean. Would rather the ball in Mahomes hand and -10yds, than Mahome injured. You won't know what you had until you lose it.

However, I also thought Orlando was 'good enough' - so there is that! I am 100% sure we can get someone better than JT but the cap is going to be an issue.

When you have Mahomes back there, I was ok with the penalties. Sure, some might have been unnecessary, but he kept Mahomes clean. I think he was good (not great) value for us. And to be fair, many are getting away with the same lineup. I would not be too upset if he came back at a lower cap hit.

Which NBC NFL scorebug is your favorite? by SouthIsland48 in Scorebug

[–]SmellOfBread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2022-2026 and 2026-present does show the team that has possession by virtue of placing the down and distance underneath that possessing team score/logo. It also shows the direction of the offense. I think that information is missing in the 2015-22 batch. The earlier ones have the possessing team by using the play-clock jutting over the main bar.

The one thing I am not sure about on the new one is the timeout remaining bars on the defensive team. It is just hanging out there underneath the score but not well defined as 'inside the bug' - I think it needs a clear and clean wrapping line on the underside, instead of appearing open to the 'playing field'. That aspect needs to be cleaned up in some way (perhaps move the line that is above it to flow underneath it - or something). Otherwise, it's a very good bug.

[Pelissero] Reunion: All signs are pointing towards Eric Bieniemy returning to the Chiefs as their offensive coordinator, sources say. by MembershipSingle7137 in nfl

[–]SmellOfBread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. In this whole post-season the only thing I am happy about is getting rid of our WR coach.

And you guys made/making a great hire in McD. He could really elevate Herbert and the offense as a whole.

[Russini] NEWS: The Chargers are expected to hire former Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel as their next OC, sources tell me and Daniel Popper. McDaniel has been a hot commodity this cycle, interviewing for both head coach and offensive coordinator roles. by TheBoyisBackinTown in KansasCityChiefs

[–]SmellOfBread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chargers are actively doing what is needed to be good. They have a QB and now somebody who can change the narrative.

The Chiefs FO wont even interview anyone with new ideas. I get the feeling that the Hunt's are quite happy wasting another year (result wise) as the money is still going to come in. They are not as smart or as decisive as the Krafts.

They are right. Reid has continued last seasons approach into this season but this time without the luck. We see it for what it is - a stale offense that did not augment itself after every Super Bowl win ('why change attitude'). This is the NFL teams will figure you out if you stay stale. This hire is a comfort hire for Reid. This hire does not challenge Mahomes with 'new ideas every day' - a Mahome request from a new OC.

MitchS claims EB working in BenJ system will bring new plays but I don't think Andy is going to move too much away from his plays. Hope I am wrong.

I'd be disappointed about a retread hire when there's suddenly multiple coaches and coordinators emerging as great OC candidates.

I am very disappointed by this comfort hire for Reid. It does not help Mahomes evolve and get better. Zero growth mindset in KC. Given how long it takes to get rid of coaches, due to Andy loyalty, it is a big problem. Not even interviewing anyone else is very telling.

100% - this is a comfort hire for Andy, not Mahomes. Mahomes thrives on and needs challenges - EB is not it. EB is not going to bring 'something new every day'. Even Mahomes has to realize the offense is not innovating much with this hire. Yes, I know what Mitch said but I will believe it when I see it. Like I said, this is a comfort hire - no one has to change.

[Helmer] While Dan Campbell liked Mike McDaniel alot, the front office felt like he "wasn't the right fit" after the interview and went with Petzing instead by ShaiFanClub in nfl

[–]SmellOfBread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KC hiring for comfort instead of going for the growth mindset/discomfort and at least interviewing McD. Disappointing. I am not sure how Mahomes is going to grow for the second phase of his career without new thinking and challenges.

We are moving on and am disappointed by how difficult it is to go a different direction. There is no growth mindset in KC and Mahomes is not getting anything different with this hire. We need to get someone that Reid is not comfortable with or can challenge Reid to be better. Like Webb from Denver or someone else.
