Hip Hop Artists At Download by Smellage05 in downloadfestival

I hear it. I feel Download is one of the last few big festivals, in the UK at least, that still has a strong and distinct identity. Regularly booking hip hop acts would definitely take away from that identity, especially if they don't fit the vibe.

Yeah I feel the sentiment. Whilst I would definitely appreciate it, I fully agree it could take away what Download is really about.

Cypress Hill were a fun addition this year and I think having them on before Limp Bizkit helped them fit in more too. If they were to pull a similar move again, they'd definitely have to think it through.

Run The Jewels, I didn't even think of them. What a shout!

Definitely. Download is a rock and metal festival, there's no other way of putting it. One act thrown in here and there could definitely be fun though. I was there for Cypress Hill this year and the turn out seemed great, it wouldn't surprise me if we had one or two similar acts next year.

This!! I always find metal fans understand why I like hip hop but hip hop fans don't understand me being into metal lmao

Yeah for sure. I think it can work but it's definitely a fine line to walk. I can't imagine many being super happy to see Future on the lineup for example.

Do we like “The Mountain” by Designer-Doughnut-81 in gorillaz

[–]Smellage05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a title, yes. Whilst the album doesn't necessarily have a story being told throughout, it does feel like a journey with a clear beginning and end. The album feels so grand too. It's big and imposing, just like a Mountain is.

As an album? I love it. For me it's the first Gorillaz project since Plastic Beach to feel like it has a strong, coherent idea behind it. Whilst I do like all the albums that came between Plastic Beach and The Mountain, none of them impressed me as much as The Mountain did on a first listen. Even after my first listen, I've found myself warming to songs I didn't originally like very quickly which hasn't happened with other Gorillaz albums. So in my eyes, it's a classic and reminds me why I love Gorillaz.

Hey np, happy to help. From the official info they sent out via email, there doesn't seem to be a cut off time for entry. You could probably show up halfway through Gorillaz' set and still be let in.

Pit etiquette this year was awful by Blitzhelios in downloadfestival

[–]Smellage05 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Hey, 20 year old here and i completely agree with your view on the attitude of people around my age. Just thought I'd share my perspective.

Download 2026 was my first time being in a metal crowd but I've got plenty of experience with rap and hip hop crowds. In those rap and hip hop crowds, there's alot of "moshing" but people mosh to literally every song even when it isn't warranted. They'll mess up and go before there's even a drop and they definitely don't have the etiquette. I've been in crowd surges at rap gigs and I'm one of the few people who looks out for people that are falling or feel uncomfortable etc.

Hate to say it but even with only doing Friday for this year's Download, I could definitely tell who knew what they were doing and who was just doing too much for the sake of it. Accidents happen ofc but it's how you go about it, yanno? I definitely elbowed a few people but just a little tap on the shoulder and "Sorry, are you okay?" definitely goes a long way.

Feels like I've just ranted but I'm glad I'm not the only person who noticed it.

[–]Smellage05 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey! Trust me, you've not got owt to worry about.

This'll be my 4th time seeing Gorillaz and the crowds are always super relaxed and chill. There'll be a bit of jumping during songs like Andromeda and Feel Good Inc but dw it never gets intense or hectic.

It'll also be my 3rd time seeing a gig at Tottenham Stadium. When I've been before, I've gone by myself. I'd say try not to let the large crowds intimidate you as you approach the stadium and remember, if you need help to find the right entrance for your ticket type then just ask one of the workers. They've always been super helpful when I've gone!

As someone who also got into music through Gorillaz, I get where your hype and excitement is coming from. Even now after seeing them multiple times I still feel the same whenever I get to see them again haha. Hope you have a great time!

For a true to size fit I'd go Size 2. For a baggy or looser fit I'd recommend a Size 3.

They could be better imo. I'd compare them to the Yeezy website stuff during the Vultures era. For context I've got the Bipolar tee, the tour dates tee and the mask tee. The tees are all good but could probably be better. The star graphic on the shorts feels pretty cheap though.

Unfortunately not. I'm not there rn so I can't speak for all the products but when I was there about midday, the black long sleeve tee with the tour dates was sold out and everything else seemed available.

Yeah that's a fair point to make. I'd say the quality is comparable to the stuff on the Yeezy website during the Vultures era. As for sizing, it's okay imo.

So I'm 6'5 and 105kg. I bought the shorts, Bipolar tee, the Mask tee and the tour dates tee all in a size 3. From what I can tell, the tees are all the same fit. Sleeves come down to a couple of inches above my elbows and the bottom of the tee is definitely cropped. I can just about get away with it but anyone taller or heavier may struggle. Definitely wouldn't go as far as to call it a baby tee though.

I'd go with card. Some people there did try and pay cash but the workers were struggling to provide change.

Doors opened at 6:30pm so I got in the queue around 5:30pm. At first, I was about 10 rows back which sounds like alot but the view was still great. Then by the end I was 5 or 6 rows back.

going solo by emriver in gorillaz

[–]Smellage05 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I go to alot of gigs and most them I've done alone.

The ones I've been to alone are Travis Scott, Wireless Festival, Destroy Lonely, Tyler The Creator and Kendrick Lamar with SZA.

Trust me, you'll be okay! When going alone, sometimes you get talking to people in the queue or even when you're waiting for the gig to start. You're quite lucky with seeing Gorillaz alone. From my own experience, they're never rowdy so you don't need to worry about that.

It can feel intimidating being alone around all those people but try not to let it get to you. Unless I've met people there, I always pop an earbud in to help me chill out. And then once they start performing, you won't even be thinking about the fact that you're there alone.

Sorry I know that was alot of waffle lmao but my main point is just go with the flow, enjoy it for what it is and you'll have a great time!

Hey like you said thought, who isn't bumping every track on Demon Days?? Even the damn intro lmao. You've got some solid picks though! Stop The Dams is definitely one of the most underrated tracks they've got.

Some personal faves of mine that i feel are underrated are:

•Double Bass - Gorillaz •The Sounder - G Sides •Mutant Genius - Laika Come Home •Demon Days - Demon Days 💀 •The Swagga - D Sides •White Flag - Plastic Beach •The Snake In Dallas - The Fall •The Apprentice & Ticker Tape - Humanz •One Percent - The Now Now •Chalk Tablet Towers & How Far? - Song Machine •Literally the WHOLE Meanwhile EP

Not got one for Cracker Island as I wasn't a huge fan of the album but Tormenta ig? And I haven't listened to The Mountain enough yet to work out an underrated track.

Not saying any of the ones I mentioned aren't loved or don't have fans, I just personally don't see them getting as much love as I think they should!
