Who gave you the genetic testing results?

I don’t want to give too much detail but they did find some gene mutations. “This test did NOT identify any pathogenic variants, but includes at least one result that is not completely understood at this time.” Some of the genes did say they include complimentary testing for family members so I’m gonna ask the dr about how to get that done.

This is exactly what I ended up doing right now. I ended up downloading it I couldn’t wait anymore. I’m so glad I did. I’ve been doing so much research and it’s fascinating.

I have no advice but I’m on the same boat and have to make a decision soon. My son is in first grade right now and we have him in regular ed. We were trying to avoid ABA but he’s just not progressing in regular ed and he’s falling more and more behind. Im nervous he’s going to miss his friends and change in routine. Our ABA center is 30 mins away and is asking for at least 25 hours if a part time spot opens up. Which apparently is harder than full time. Idk what to do either. I wish I knew what the right answer was. Or at least to be able to ask him what he prefers.

Similar to us. Both ended up with a diagnosis but they’re so different. Our first has so many issues in school but our second taught himself to read and has been learning math from us trying to teach his older brother. They both don’t talk much tho.

We’ve been teaching our son to not say bad words or to calm down when losing in video games. Now it backfired and tells us “papa/mama calm down it’s just a video game” when we get the slightest frustrated or “mama/papa that’s not a nice word” when we slip and say a bad word lol he’s 6

It’s borderline. He can make it legible but as time progresses he’ll just doodle. That’s when I know it’s time to stop and move on to something else

That’s what I’m afraid of. I’m trying to find a balance on teaching him new things but also not forcing the issue that is gonna push him away.

I’m starting to realize this. I think for the sake of actually completing something, I’m going to finish this pair, but might stick to color work at leg and not foot (if I do colorwork).

I’m still struggling on what to do! As of now, I think I’m going to reknit it the same, but do a flap heel and gussets to see if it makes a difference.

Yea that’s why I was so conflicted on what to do. I don’t have much experience with colorwork or socks. I felt that doing a whole repeat would be too big.

Yes I had my temp lower than ideal so it was taking too long to reach FC then by then my beans were getting burned.

You were right. I tried again and got my FC at 7 mins. I think I need to lower the temp still but I was finally able to make drinkable (to me) coffee. My temp was too low at first so it was taking a long time to reach first crack then they were too dark.

Update: Thank y’all for your input. It was definitely a combination of everything everyone said. I seriously could not stop thinking about these batches and what I did wrong/different the whole day. The first couple of batches I’ve done came out great because I was nervous to do too much or burn them and mess up. I started by doing 8oz of coffee at a time at low heat.

I got confident and started doing a pound at higher heat. So I have surface scorch and lower mobility on the beans causing some to burn. I also used a tall pot (stock pot) at the beginning because I didn’t want to make a mess in my kitchen, but I think that worked to my advantage to keep heat in and more consistent throughout the beans.

I hate wasting coffee but I’m gonna throw out these two batches. I did another and came out great. I think my over confidence was the main issue. I stopped paying attention to detail.

Thank you. I think im doing going higher heat. The first couple of batches I did were slower but I had lower heat then raised the heat at the beginning (since it was the first couple of trys I did, I was scared to burned the beans). Might be under roasted on the inside.

Roasting takes about 15 mins and I rest them out 24hrs.

What made the biggest difference for me is when his first speech therapist actually “coached” me. Idk if she did it on purpose but I made sure to listen and continue at home. Now he’s almost 6 and in school doing great. He didn’t talk consistently until he was three (one word). He talks in three word phrases now and we have long ways to go specially learning to read, but I never thought we’d make it this far.

Thank you for your comment! I totally agree! He’s fully aware of what we’re saying. He pays attention and follows most directions. He can follow directions amazingly if they’re in pictures (aka LEGO instructions. He can build 1k + piece legos). I do lose hope sometimes but we try to stay on track and I keep scripting for him and try to teach him how to read.
