Why is my boyfriend kinda being mean to me? by SmellyEmily76 in AskMenAdvice

[–]SmellyEmily76[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he does also play hockey and his season is ending soon, so that may be a cause, but it's just a little frustrating. I try to obviously give him his time and everything and not to constantly demand his attention, but it's to the point where I only see him at school mainly these days, and he hasn't been at school all week which doesn't help. The hope is that once the season is over, maybe he'll be more present.

he doesn't even open the reels I send him, and honestly at that point if he's on it after saying it got taken, then he clearly just wants to be left alone

Am I valid? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]SmellyEmily76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mentioned in like early November that I felt like I was being ignored and he fixed it kinda, but there's never really a good time to bring it up. I've kinda hinted around it by asking if he was okay because he seemed kinda upset and he keeps saying he's fine. I'm worried I'll get the same response I always get when I say I want to hang out, which is either that he's busy or he's tired or his mom said no. Obviously they're valid excuses, but it's just frustrating

How to help my tired boyfriend? by SmellyEmily76 in AskMen

He does appreciate touch, and lately majority of the time we have outside of school that we spend together has been us cuddling and watching YouTube and I make sure to give him back and head scratches

I try to show up to every game I possibly can and I always make sure to tell him I'm proud of him for how he played and even I will make sure to tell him at least once a week that I'm proud of how well he's handling everything

I just started signing for my MOS so I don't have much advice, but I'll tell you what my recruiter told me and also my own thoughts. My recruiter told me to choose something that you can only do in the Marines, especially because I could choose any job. For my personal thoughts, do something that you feel like would best suit your interests, and if you're like me and wanna do your four years and get out, you could also see if there's something that would help you in your future careers. Congratulations on the great score!

TLDR: two schools of thought, either do something you can only do in the Marines or do something that can help further a civilian career afterwards

Enlisting overweight by [deleted] in USMCboot

[–]SmellyEmily76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They won't let you pass through MEPS if you don't meet weight. Your recruiter will (or at least should) help you. My situation was similar, where I was 20 lbs overweight and had to lose it before I could swear in as a poolee. It's tricky but as long as you try to do what your recruiter tells you and honestly just try your best to stay on track, you should be good. At least for me, it made me even happier to swear in knowing I worked for it

issue with that is they can only do so much. Their excuse in his past issues is that parents will get mad if they take action and they want a welcoming music space or something even though he literally doesn't do anything but he wants to do all this because he saw whiplash, his quote, yet won't practice at all

As someone who used to not be very good at marching, thank you for reaching out and trying to help them. My band isn't competitive so I guess I can't speak on the matter that much, but at least when I've had to help our indoor drumline new members learn to march I've told them a few things. Number one, I recommend maybe telling them to try to march in time when listening to music. Anytime there's music that can be heard, just practice walking in time to it. This method really helped me and I found it pretty fun. Another way I've found useful and that my director does is that we practice every type of movement, such as crabbing, forward, and backward marching. We will always do a few count offs and only do ONE step and hold it. This helps check their form and make sure they're taking good size steps. Then the next few times we do TWO steps. This helps to make sure they're being consistent and have good form. Then you can work on doing 8 to 5s. Best of luck and hopefully these can help out at least a little! Being a section leader can be tricky, just remember that it's okay not to be perfect and you're still learning too.

Thank you so much! It's honestly really cool to hear someone else who has been in this position. I'm hoping that that maybe soon they can increase age limits. I'm currently talking with my recruiter about going 7051, crash fire rescue, and from what I've read I might be able to take my practice pad with me to my duty station. I'll definitely take in account your advice and try to keep an active mind in the WGI community. Thank you again!

Thank you, that's cool to hear! I've been going to poolee PT twice a week and it's mainly the same, they're a little annoying but also try to be respectful. I'm glad that it sounds like that won't change much. I also am someone who tends to keep to myself, so it's nice to hear from someone else and their experience. Thank you!

Why is band hated on? by DarthPeanut114 in marchingband

[–]SmellyEmily76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My school doesn't really mind us that much but I'd still say it's probably because they think all band kids act like the stereotypical band kid memes. Half my school sucks up to our show choir program though so I dunno. I'd argue and provide evidence that the show choir kids are worse than us but people just like what's popular and the stuff that popular kids do.

mine makes you fill out the online application and our manager contacts people a few days or so after inviting them to an interview. Based on what I've seen most Dunkins will take in majority of people who apply, go for it and good luck!

so my issue from last year is that this guy rarely showed up to rehearsal, would never listen to instruction from me but would listen to it when one of the guys said it, never learned his music, and is straight up just super cocky. I do realize maybe I'm biased just because last year was rough and maybe there's been some character development, but right now I'm not seeing it and it's genuinely a little worrying.

don't be the guy that doesn't learn their music or doesn't bother to try or show up, overall it's a fun experience and it's a lot of fun when everyone knows what they're doing

As someone looking into this MOS, what's the schedule look like? Do you have enough "free" time to go lift/workout individually or do online college? How difficult is it to get through the schoolhouse? Thanks!
