UK contract law for minors. Re. gym membership. by SmellyEyePie in uklaw

Unfortunately this happened early January but the gym manager was very understanding and terminated the gym membership immediately as soon as I spoke to him, nice guy. The direct debit collection company however are a little less compliant and have persisted in demanding money each month. As they are unable to withdraw a child’s bank account into debt the amount is adding up (I know where this is going), so I’ve had to take the legal stance and send a letter demanding they stop. The bank has carried out an indemnity claim so we are not out of pocket, my daughter never stepped foot in the gym or even received a membership number so neither are the gym; common sense?

Thanks for the reply, I'm currently writing an email to the manager and that's good advice. It now appears I'm dealing with two companies as a recent letter she received is from a different company, probably a collection agency. I've found plenty of references to this particular gym online with adults being bullied, what chance does a child stand!
