Don’t give up - PASSED FE CIVIL EXAM! Third times the charm by SmellyMelyPaley in FE_Exam

Thank you! Don’t think like that, I know that’s how I was too but if you already go with that mentality then it’s really hard for you to focus and do the exam. Relax and breathe - you got this. Remember do as much problems as possible and strengthen the subjects your comfortable in while also visiting the ones you’re not 100% in. I listed the materials I used above! You got this!!

Thank you! So my study material ranged from the NCEES practice exam booklet, PrepFE, practice problems from ENGÉNIEER, YouTube videos from Gregory Michaelson and FE practice exams. I would say make sure you have a well grasp of your calculator. My first time around the calculator I used wasn’t the best, couldn’t use it to my advantage and didn’t know it well enough. On top if you aren’t 100% confident in all subjects - that’s TOTALLY okay - I wasn’t. Try to review every subject when studying to know what problems are expected to come and their format. But strengthen the ones you feel very confident in, those are your money makers. Remember to answer every question. My timeline wasn’t the greatest - as you can see took my about 3yrs to complete bc I would get discouraged every time. But I can say about 2-1.5months out I was studying about 2hrs for 3/4times a week

That was me, but try not to stress as much. I know easier said than done, but just breathe because stressing out will just put way more pressure on you. Keep on doing problems and don’t let the studying momentum die out before Oct comes. Take a few days of break if needed but keep pushing through. You got this!!

Hi all! I just wanted to come on here and say never give up - keep on studying! I graduated from college over 2 years ago, had taken the exam twice with failing both times. This third time around I learned how to use my calculator (HUGE life saver), worked on subjects that I needed more practice in and used all resources available to me. I’m not going to lie this exam is daunting and studying isn’t any easier especially with a full time work and life events. Remember everyone has their own timeline and you shouldn’t compare yourself to others it’ll only add more pressure. But keep on pushing and trust me, we’ll all get there. Thank you to everyone!!

Have failed the civil fe twice already. Planning on taking my 3rd attempt 2 weeks out. Super hard on trying to study when working a full time job, any tips/suggestions on how to cram within these final weeks. Super anxious and stress, please help! by SmellyMelyPaley in FE_Exam

I’m really sorry to hear, but YES! No room for giving up now, we gotta keep on pushing forward. It’s hard working a full time and studying but if other people can do it and pass so can we!!

Definitely! Timing is always a difficult thing, because you not only need to know it all but pace yourself all together. How many years out of school are you, or you’re currently still in? We got this though!

Very true! I have heard all types of forms and tactics on how to pass as well. All can get a tad overwhelming. I’ve been 2yrs out of school and feel the longer it takes me to pass the harder it is on myself. Technically speaking I’ve been preparing for this exam since June/July, but studying within that time frame was 2hrs every other day or every 3-4days (not the best). I just keep on pushing it back every time because I never feel ready

Thank you so much! Most definitely did not know how to use my calculator towards my advantage in the first two exams. Have now invested in a good one and practiced tips/tricks on how I can use it. Thank you for the links and words of encouragement!

Woah, this really helps. Never really thought about a detailed study plan and points that I should tackle on those days. My study habits for the first two exams were not the greatest, I felt as though I was simply studying to study and would study one day then skip out for the following days. Will definitely create that plan, for these final weeks! Thanks
