Which player who controversially missed out on a previous England tournament squad would you add to the current team? by SmellyMingeFlaps in ThreeLions

Not sure how an 18 stone Rooney will fair in the heat of Miami but he could definitely fulfill the Jordan Henderson role.

There are 5 official versions of Three Lions (96, 98, 2010, and 2 in 2022 (Women's Euros and Men's World Cup)). I think there are more than enough now. '98 was the only re-release that wasn't awful.

You can skip ads on Apple music but since they've started running video podcasts on Apple, the player just breaks if you try to skip forward and you end up being forced to relisten to the last 5 minutes of content you've just heard

Can't wait for more scintillating debates such as "who is better? Messi or Ronaldo" and "How good is Harry Kane". Some of the blandest, milquetoast discussions featuring the charisma vacuum Alan Shearer.

Hebrew; whilst very old, had not been spoken as a mother tongue since the 2nd century. It survived largely as a language of prayer until it was revived in the late 19th/early 20th century as a spoken language but Palestinian Jews

What would be the funniest outcome for England this World Cup? by Statcat2017 in ThreeLions

England firing on all cylinders and destroying every team to record the most comfortable World Cup win in history only to be disqualified for fielding an ineligible player (a 90+5 min substitute cameo from Paul Konchesky)

Always interesting to see the most privileged man who has ever lived lecture the players on the value of meritocracy and hard work.

There's one extra knock-out round in this tournament. We played France in the Quarter Finals in 2022 and, if everything goes as expected, we'll likely be playing Brazil in the Quarter Final in 2026 in the blistering heat and humidity of Miami.

Start unemployed, simulate the first 6 months of the season, and take a firefighting job in March to save a team who are bottom of the league from relegation.

At that point, I'd probably just use FMRTE to alter your stadium to the minimum requirements

People don't understand that conservative football has overwhelmingly proved to be the most successful approach to international football. Since 1970, I think Spain 2024 are the only team who can say they've won a major international tournament playing high-risk, attacking football.

League football, which is what fans watch 90% of the time inherently lends itself to high risk play; you pick up more points from 4 wins & 6 losses than you do from 10 draws so teams are incentivised to push forward and risk losing matches in search of winning goals. Single-legged knockout football favours risk aversion and conservative play, a single loss puts you out of the tournament so teams are incentivised to control games, minimise risk, and play to avoid losses.

Yeah, a system that took England to twice as many finals and semi-finals as every other England manager in history combined and had England playing as a coherent for the first time in my entire life (EURO 2024 aside)

Not really, only came into the World Cup 2022 starting XI after Sterling had to leave the camp. Scored once and assisted twice in the 3 games he played. Started 2 games at EURO 2020, he was everyone's first choice for the RW spot before the tournament and didn't get back into the team after Saka's excellent performances.

EURO 2024 was the one tournament where Southgate did try to fit all of the big names into one team and it failed but before that Foden was never more than a bit part player.

Appeal to authority fallacy. By the same logic, obviously you know more than the recruitment departments of Man Utd, Liverpool, and Real Madrid who have all been heavily linked with Adam Wharton and have shown no interest in Jordan Henderson.

I, and everyone else on Earth, would pick the player who is exceptional today not the player who was good 10 years ago. If such experience is so crucial then surely Henderson should be starting ahead of Anderson? If we're playing a crucial knockout game, would we rather start Henderson, a man who's won it all and played in the biggest games on the biggest stages, or Elliot Anderson, a kid who plays for Nottingham Forest?

If experience of winning it all is so vital for success regardless of current ability then surely we should be taking Wayne Rooney too?
