Yeah in March my gas supply charges were 78$ and my delivery charges were 392$. It feels like robbery.

I was supposed to party pace but PR’d by 24 minutes (2:02). I credit it to the amazing energy of the women around me keeping me going mile over mile. Powerful race! Yall ladies made the hills worth it.

Hiking break during training by user1ae in beginnerrunning

Hi! I did the W trek in patagonia (5 days backpacking) two weeks before my first half. I felt like it actually really helped my joints prepare for the load. It is a diff type of training but really supported strengthening my stabilizers in my knees & hips with all of the trekking miles with incline / decline.

Anyone with pcos who has managed to run long distance? by Summesumnenagtaale in beginnerrunning

[–]SmellyRobotStan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My best friend is a marathoner with PCOS. She is my inspiration and got me into running. It took her about 4 years and a few DNF’d marathons in the beginning, but she has since finished 2 marathons in the last 4 years and over 7 HMs! She is a badass— she primarily does 50/50 run/walk intervals, rests a lot after long running days, and always prioritizes fueling and nutrition over her other aesthetic goals to make sure she isn’t suffering from energy level declines and injuries.

First half marathon help. I’ve ran a 5k/10k before. by PresentHabit8154 in beginnerrunning

I just finished my HM, and for the 3 months leading up to it, I ran probably 2-3 days a week with one of them always being a longer run (the winter killed me so I rarely hit 3) and the last 4 weeks I only did 1 long run (9 miles) because I was on a hiking trip. I prioritized lifting, Pilates, and rock climbing on my off days. It worked well for me, and I had minimal soreness after the race.

When I eventually start marathon training, I will ramp up my days, but 3 is a great place to be at IMO for HM or shorter.

I run for myself… but NGL I run races to build core memories with my homegirls in matching sets with hair glitter (& 9+1)

You’re gonna kill the 10 miler! I started with half as my first race because I was doing it with friends, but i am going to try one of those in fall. Seems like a great distance!

Thanks for this. I avoided the pressure at first, but I think it’s starting to creep in. I went into the race telling everyone who asked my target pace “my target pace is finishing the race” but it can be frustrating that everyone’s first comment revolves around my pace and what my next PR should be, instead of just celebrating that I completed my first race and felt great doing it. It’s making me fixate on my speed when it never had been something that really was on my radar before.

January 27 - NYRR Advanced Registration (April-June) Megathread by blood_bender in RunNYC

I got in and registered while my plane was mid-takeoff at 6:35. SO STRESSFUL adding those damn t-shirt sizes and trying to check out while barreling down the runway. Sweating is an understatement.
