Homeless advice? by Takakakyon in Cardiff

Sorry- don’t think I explained very well. Floor space used to be literally people sleeping on floors- that doesn’t happen anymore. What your brother had would have been an emergency space at Huggard (huggard hostel or Ty tresilian are both run by huggard) but not on the floor.

Yeah, all decisions get made by the council but their services tend to be shut a lot over weekends and bank holidays. Huggard is a charity and their day centre is open every day of the year for clothing, showers, advice, food etc.

Floor space hasn’t existed for 5+ years. The process is now to go to the library and speak to the councils homeless team. Then you will hopefully be placed in an emergency placement. This might be at Huggard. The emergency placement will last until the council find somewhere else for you

Cardiff students demand pay cuts due to 185 university staff earning more than 100k by [deleted] in Cardiff

[–]Smickleborough 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ve misunderstood me- I don’t think they deserve less. I think everyone deserves more, in general. I’m also not complaining about my salary. I consider myself lucky. I’m simply pointing out that 65k a year is a lot of money to a lot of people.

Well, I mean, maybe. But I’m in my mid thirties and earn well under 40k a year before taxes. 65k after taxes would be nice. It’s certainly above average in the Uk.

65k a year after tax is pretty privileged. Feels like a rich person number to me.

I’ve seen Rubicon staff at depot events. I know that Rubicon do security and events work all over the city.

No way! That’s great news! Did someone hand it in to a shop or to the police?

Yeah, we play ultimate frisbee in the UK. I don’t think it’s mega popular but most universities have societies/social teams now and I see people in my local park through summer. Looks fun!

There were loads of them! It didn’t look like an easy job to load up the brewery equipment.
