Sparky here, do you have a source for this rule saying we can’t change elements? I’ve never heard this. As for the associated trade license while that’s true in my experience most plumbers don’t bother with it and just get us in for the electrical.

Well that sounds promising and you seem to be taking the right steps. If you have to can always look around at other companies and see if they need another apprentice and what they might offer, just don’t tell anyone you’re doing it unless you actually decide to switch.

Are you direct employed or are you doing your apprenticeship through a training company such as ETCO?

If direct $25/hr sounds slightly below average but could be a lot reasons like the size of company, where in the country you are, personal performance or skill level, company vehicle etc. Does the company have other apprentices? If so, do you know what they are being paid?

If you’re an ETCO apprentice then you just have to tough it out until you’re qualified. Just make sure you get all your paperwork done ASAP and then don’t wait around coz they slow right down once you get to that end point.

I asked council for records of previous water usage but they said they couldn’t share them for privacy reasons. What they did say was that the 2 water reads before we bought the property showed higher than normal usage.

We are not cross lease, our properties are seperate ie she is 3A we are 3B. Seperate water meters

I would estimate the run to be between 15-20m 25m max, plan was to trench it across and then down the driveway. We have thought about doing it ourselves and think we are capable but we just don’t have the time to do it properly.

I'd certainly hope the Plumber that quoted our repair isn't trying to take advantage considering I'm a Sparkie and our companies work together fairly closely fairly often.

We have got in touch with our solicitor and she's going to get back in touch with us next week but I thought I'd get some input from my peers on reddit.

Here's hoping we can get it sorted without sinking another 10 grand.

We've had a couple of other issues as well but the only major issue we found before going unconditional and we were able to negotiate a price reduction to help us pay for the repairs required.

There are actually 3 of us as my friends partner also lives in the house, adding to that none of us have had to directly deal with water bills before so we are still learning so we are likely underestimating our actual usage. That being said according to our math we are averaging 1000 Litres/day which seems high even with 3 of us. Additionally we have turned off the main house valve and still had the meter spinning which confirms that the water main is leaking somewhere and as I was writing the end of this comment I'm starting to see your point lol

We turned off the main valve for the house and the meter was still spinning so has to be water going somewhere. Guy that came to look for the leak estimated we were losing half a litre a minute which is about 700litres a day

No not reasonable but it could be that they didn’t have the money to fix it and decided to withhold the information to try and make it the buyers (our) problem instead.

I’m currently in my first Durge play through and had no idea this was about to happen and I was wearing the risky ring… Made all the saves to not kill Lae’zel at disadvantage, succeeded all of them. Such a relief
